Default #1291 for sale with a rebuilt title

i found #1291 for sale. 11,000 miles for 16,500$...

http://www.vehix.com/find-cars/tri-c...77000002CEEEAA

he has two videos (first is showing the car, second is him driving it)
says just the bumper and fender were replaced

would getting a loan be difficult, insurance, or registration? i have never considered looking at a car with a rebuilt title but this car is to good to pass up

That is a sweet price, if he really did fix it right with all nissan parts. I would still take it out for a spin before giving him a penny.

Go through a credit union. They finance salvaged titles.

I would be wherry, looks like more then the bumper and fender needed to be replaced. Check the carfax and see what type of accident it was in.

Alos make sure it went through the state inspection to make it a rebraded title.

From the plate it looks like it's a South Carolina car. In South Carolina, a vehicle can be declared a total loss if the cost of repair, including parts and labor is 75% or more of the vehicle's market value (http://www.dmv.org/sc-south-carolina...d-vehicles.php). Those couple of pics don't look to me like 75% of a $25,000 car. If you decide to pursue make sure you get the carfax or autocheck report that should tell you if this is a flood damaged vehicle--I'm not sure but didn't Irene hit South or North Carolina last year and caused flooding?

Also, Consumer Reports calculates that a salvage-title car is worth 50 percent of its Kelley Blue Book value, at best. I used nada.com to get a value because kbb doesn't allow you to get a value for a private sale on this vehicle. The nada value is $27,400 (http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2008/...dard-Equipment) which is for a clean title including the low miles, reducing it by 50% for the rebuilt title would give a fair price of $13,700. However, many of us on this forum have seen Nismo's go for around $25K. IMO a fair price for this car might be closer to $12,500.

If you decide to go through with this purchase you will have trouble getting financing as well as comprehensive insurance coverage because of the rebuilt title. Do yourself a favor and read at least this: http://www.carinsurance.com/Articles...insurance.aspx

BTW I'm not trying to scare you into not buying it, but rather just trying to help you be an informed buyer.

And if you do decide to buy this, take it to a dealer and have them inspect it--a couple of hundred bucks is a cheap way to see if everything was fixed right.

Good luck

I am always curious if it is such a "deal" for a buyer to purchase and fix a wrecked 350Z, Why does the seller not fix and sell it?

I would definitely low ball it. Put it on a lift and check for frame damage, suspension movement, and etc... I did notice that the front yamaha dampers are kinda crooked, which tells me to look under the car carefully and see whats really there. Then make a decision on buying it.

Ever notice how no rebuilt car ever has extensive repairs according to the owner? It's always just the bumper and the fender. Insurance companies don't total cars for the bumper and fender.

It looks to me like that car went over something so there may have been damage to the suspension and underpan.

Be skeptical. Very skeptical. As far as I am concerned, the owner has already lied to you.

ha ha. You could get hit by a train and the seller would say "Minor dings but had it fixed by a first-rate body shop."

I just watched the videos posted on the website. Seems the front bumper is still dented, the wheels are curbed, scratched etc. Perhaps the videos were made before the real damage occurred..ha..

buy a car you can afford that's in good shape.

salvage cars are like throwing good money into a garbage can.

Several members has given you their advice regarding salvage vehicles, but you choose to ignore that advise. So why even ask?

Wonder why #813 doesn't have the real NISMO wheels that came with the car.

I looked at one back before I bought mine that was reconstructed so it had been repaired. Come to find out it was in 3 accidents when I ran the carfax. I looked it over very thoroughly after that and noticed fender rust and some poor fitment on the doors and hatch. Thank god I didn't buy it. If the guy would of budged on the price I was going to buy it that first day before the carfax for $17,000.

I bet someone had sold the stocks and put aftermarket but didn't want to trade it with those so picked up some of those for cheap money.

I wouldn't pay more then $20-$22k for it with those wheels.imo
