Default New Guy Checking In

Hello All,
2008 Nismo #728 here, just joined the forum. I used to lurk and read here back when I first got the car, and then again recently.

Enjoying my Nismo 350 since the day I bought it new. It'll make some people cringe, but I DD it. It's a double edged sword. It's a fun car to drive, and obviously you don't want to run up miles, but you also want to have fun and actually drive the thing.

95k+ on the odometer and she is still going strong. Only had to replace wear items like tires, break pads, oil, oil & air filters, and wiper blades. Everything is stock.

Just starting to see some clutch slippage in hard cornering if I'm on the gas hard in a low gear. Going into the shop for a JWT clutch & flywheel installation soon. Most likely going to do ART pipes while they are doing clutch (since they have to disconnect exhaust anyway).

Body is in good condition. I have one very minor door ding on my driver door, one tiny rock chip on my fender that I need to sand and hit with some touch up paint. Two major things I want to address in the near future is that the clear coat is peeling on the surface that faces upward on the front lip, over the gunmetal gray paint. Also, the driver side door panel where the window switches are inside flakes paint bad. My cubby latch has some scratches on it that took off the cheap finish as well. Lastly, the one that drives me crazy is the clear coat or film finish on the metal pieces on the steering wheel. They look like GARBAGE. Starting to happen around the shifter metal surround as well. Anyone else have this happen?

I plan on holding onto the Nismo for a long long time, and picking up another car for DD (Subaru STi, when they release hatchback again). Wanna clean up the Z and drive it on weekends or something along that line with some fun mods and a tune. The goal is to have an AWD turbo beast (the STi), and a very fun to drive NA RWD Z. Well, thats the end of my rant, just wanted to drop in and say Hi.

Can't tell if you posted pictures since I'm at work, but I know[AND LOVE] the ppw Nismo 350Zs.

I daily drove my base 08 for 3 years and I only have 56k on the clock. I feel bad that I have barely put 5k (if that) on it in a year.

By the way-I hate you and gimme your Nismo!

Kidding, welcome to the forum and keep enjoying the Z!

Welcome to the forum, your OEM clutch has done well for 95K and you can't really avoid the paint chips on the front of the car. I have the same steering wheel problem as you, the silver pieces on mine look pretty scabby too. I'll either buy good second hand ones but that'll only be if I can't find decent lettering to replace what'll be rubbed off before clear coating. Good luck with the hunt for a new DD.
