Default Finshed Nitrous install (pics)

I finally finished the install!! Here's the details of what I have:

-NX solenoids (will be running 75 shot)
-purge (dynotune)
-10 lb bottle
-N2O pressure gauge
-Bottle opener (dynotune)
-Bottle heater (NOS)
-spark plugs NGK (1 step colder)
-window/tps switch unit (dynotune)
-blow down tube (dynotune)
-fuel safety cut-off switch (dynotune)

Bottle:
the bottle is mounted where the Bose sub would have been...took
awhile to fit it in there and mount the brackets, but it fits with
all of the accessories. The N2O line is routed through the interior
(left side of driver's seat) and through the main rubber grommet on
the driver's side of the bulk head...that leads directly into the
brake area.

solenoids:
the N2O and purge are mounted on the bracket for the clutch fluid
reservoir in the brake compartment. purge is routed the tow hook.
Fuel solenoid is mounted just behind the engine on the bulk head. I used a
fuel tap (forgot the company I bought this from) to get the fuel to
the solenoid.

TPS/Window:
through tapping into the pin 50 (TPS), and pin 62 (Window), I was
able to first test run and make sure that it was working
properly...it's set to spray at WOT between 3K to 6.5K. (I had some
problems at first getting the TPS wire, and ended up tapping into it
at the throttle body wiring). I put the module where the ashtray
would have been...I had to cut some, but got it to fit snuggly.

wiring:
this was by far the most time consuming and hardest part. I used
powerpoint to draw out all of the wiring ahead of time and was glad
I did...I probably revised it 3 or 4 times to make easier to
install. I routed the wiring through the bulkhead at the far
passenger side (you have to take off the plastic battery covering to
get back there). I wired all of the switches to the cubby box (I
don't have Nav)...at first I tried to just drill a small hole in the back of the cubby box to feed all of the wires into it, but I ended up just cutting the back side out to make everything fit more easily (there's enough room to
fit a lot of wires, but when you have to slide the center console
back, it's hard to get everything to fit correctly)

Testing:
I took it out today with a 35 shot installed, I flipped the switch in 2nd gear, floored it around 2K rpms, @ 3K, it kicked in...I could feel the difference right away...I can't wait to install the 75 shot and see how that'll feel!

Overall, I enjoyed the install, even though it took about 1
month...I've been working most Saturdays and didn't have much extra
time after work (It took extra long b/c I could only get a few hours
at a time to work on it...20 minutes to pull out all of my tools,
work for 50 minutes, then take another 20 minutes to put everything
away). I covered all of the wiring and fuel/N2O lines with wiring loom...it's fairly hard to even tell the lines are there.

I've yet to dyno to it..hoping to get there within a few
weeks, but work is still pushing hard for OT - I don't mind the
extra $, just wish I had more time to spend it.

-Peter

I've included a good amount of pics (hope it's not too many)...I know that when I was preparing for the install, I went through all of the pics I could find to get a good idea of what I would be doing:

purge

nozzle:

brake cover:

brake area unfinished:

fuel sol:

fuel tap:

engine bay:

interior closed:

interior open:

Bottle:

here's a shot of my new wheels (Work Emotion CR Kai)...just waiting to get her washed, then I'll take some better pics of the exterior.

**just realized that alot of these pics are dark...if I get a chance, I'll take some shot of it outside to get more light.

Nice job. Im pretty tempted to either get nitrous 100 shot or stillen stage 4. They're both very nice units.

Placing the purge nozzle in front like that isn't the greatest idea, for what should be obvious reasons. Under the hood exiting at the cowl is a popular and safer location. You may never experience any problems, but I thought I'd point that out.

I wasn't too sure where to route the purge, and since I had installed the solenoid about 3 weeks ago, I just put it there...I've kept the tow hook on since my last track day, and like it there to keep my bumper safe from other drivers (Seattle drivers are pretty bad...especially at parallel parking). Now that I finnaly have all of the cowlings back on, I'll probably just put near the windshield.

What are the obivous reasons not to put it on the tow hook? (The one down side I've seen so far is that I can't see the N2O when I purge...but I know it's working b/c I hear it)

total set-up was around $1,200 (bought used parts to keep the cost low)

How did you take off the base for the subwoofer behind the seat?

you have to strip some of the interior to expose all the screws.

check out my pic in this thread, itll shed some light on the screws that are covered.

I think he means if you purge while behind someone's muffler, your car will be one big flamethrower.

N2O isn't flammable...unless combine with a fuel.

**I just installed the 50 shot jets and it's much more noticeable! So far, everything feels good, the engine feels strong, can't hear any ping-ing...hopefully I'll have the 75 shot jets in by tomorrow evening for more fun. This is way too addictive

Which it is coming out of the exhaust depending how your car is running.

just put the 75 jets in...this is just too much fun - I had planned to keep it at a 75 shot, but now I'm feeling tempted to goto 100...guess I'll wait for that until I can get on a dyno to make sure my AF's are okay.

Nice. I like how everything is hidden.

Damn you guys, though. I had planned on buying my nitrous setup after I had bought all my suspension parts but seeing threads like this makes me want to order nitrous right now.

How much should I expect to pay for all parts and install. I know that you did all the install youself.

parts ~$1k - $1.3K. I had been quoted $5-700 for the install at a local shop...that's why I did it myself.
