Default Is the bottle safe in hot weather?

For you nitrous guys.. do you ever leave the bottle in the car when it's like 95 degrees out like right now in Cali? Is it safe? Although you have a blowdown tube.. is it safe or will too much pressure make it blow through the blowdown tube?

if pressure is to high the tank will vent ,without a vent tube it will purge inside your car,95 degrees outside is like 140 in car with windows up.if you are not using nitrous take out tank.

Probably stupid for me doing this but I have been leaving my bottle in my car in the driveway(windows up) in 95 degree weather.I've checked it each day at 4pm to see what the bottle pressure is and its consistantly 1160....I guess my experiment is over so since I only use the N20 at the track, the bottle is now out.

I leave mine in the car, but I will put some ice on them after a few hours.

No way I will take my bottles out, never know what may pull up along side you

If direct sunlight hits the bottle, it can and will break the burst disk.

When my bottle is full, bottle pressure can reach 1300-1400 psi and possibly more. I carry a small white towel which I cover the bottle with if direct sunlight is a problem.

I have a blow down tube installed so its not a safety concern for me but losing $30 worth of NO2 sucks... from what I gather...

Last time at the track it was hot and I couldn't get the pressure below 1200 psi on the bottle. I used the towel and a/c to cool it. My data log runs are with 1000-1100 psi in the bottle. I was concerned running at 1200 psi because in theory it would run lean(more pressure= more NO2)

Last time I was at the track it was 104 at 2:00 and my bottle pressure was at 1300 PSI. It locked up my purge valve but once I hit the juice everything freed up. best run that day was at 2:00 13.88 @ 107 mph.

I have a NX Bottle Blanket... It's been 100+ here and I've never had it pop the seal. It occasionally locks up the purge when it hit's about 1300 psi but that's rare.

Just an FYI for some of you guys in hot areas like Cali and FL. There's a company that makes a fully enclosed nitrous temperature control system.

Here's a link.

It supposedly will heat OR COOL your bottle to keep it in the exact temperature range you want it to. I don't know if it works, only that its kind of expensive ($360) and would demand quite a bit of room in your trunk. Just thought I'd let you guys know about it since it was news to me when I saw it.

the burst panel on the bottle valve has a very high rating....I don't remember, but I think it is over 3000 psi. I normally filled bottle will not reach those pressures even in hot areas.

The only time I ever had a burst panel pop on me was because I was a jackhole and I overfilled my bottle. I was in a hirry, and I didn't use a scale while filling it. I actually put 14# of nitrous in a 10# bottle. That alone didn't do anything, but I left my car outside in the florida summer heat (high noon) for about 4 hours or more. When I got back to the car, the bottle was empty. . That's when I noticed the that the burst panel let go.

at least you were parked,it would've been ugly if you were driving down the street.did you add a blow down tube before or after that experience?

no blow down tube......it would have scared the hell outta me if I were in the car. The car would have smoked up like a Snoop Dogg video.
