Default New Nitrous Setup!

Well I pulled the trigger, again. I originally bought all NX parts but after messing around, research, and actually learning about everything I changed my setup.

Originally I was going to be running a Turbonetics kit with the NX kit since I never planned on tracking the car, only strip. Now that I am going to be doing NASA and SCCA events it just didn’t seem reasonable to go with the Turbonetics. I still plan on going with the PowerLab kit towards the end of the year.

For now though, nitrous seems like the way to go. It’s safe and only provides the power when you want it, and in AZ keeping my track temps down is a must.

Here is my new part’s list that I ordered –

Zex 350z Specific Nitrous Kit (Includes Fuel Adapter)
Zex Tuner Kit (Heater, Purge, Blow Down)
Zex RPM Window Switch
Zex Remote Bottle Opener
Ignited Rocker Switches

I’m hoping that everything will be here soon so that I can start the install this weekend. I have yet to buy a pressure gauge and wideband, except for the pressure gauge that comes with the kit. I’m tempted to go with the NX Octane series again but I wouldn’t really be able to use all its features. It sucks that Defi doesn’t make a nitrous gauge because all of my others are BF’s.

Another thing I wanted to do is run a UTEC, but sadly no one will tune for nitrous here in AZ.

I would call Intense or Toy Box Auto in Tempe. I know Toy Box sells a lot of Nitrous setups for the Z, but I think UMS does there tuning.

Yeah? I've never heard of Toy Box and I've talked to Intense about it quite a bit. They just don't feel comfortable doing anything with nitrous plus they don't do installs or even sell it, so I definitely don't want them doing my tuning. Will for the PowerLab though.

Toy Box any good? Isn't that the old SRD and then they flopped?

Rich and the guys from SRD left and went to Toy Box Auto. I know Rich drifts his Z a lot and has a nitrous setup on it I believe. SRD is still up and running, but the AZ350Z crowd doesn't support them anymore since Rich left. I know SRD use to sell A LOT of nitrous setups, but I'm not sure if that was becuase of Rich or not. I would give them both a call (SRD or Toy Box Auto).

Intense has done Nitrous in the past on a couple of Supras with a lot of success. I don't think they have done it on a Z though. Jason from ProEFI tuned the Intense Motorsports Supra with there two-stage nitrous setup, and it turned out good.

Utec's do work well with N20 setups...how big of a shot are you going to run? You made not need a tune if you're not going with a big shot.

Or take a road trip to PF in Orlando and have JT tune your setup with a Utec

I really like the way you did your gauge setup.

I plan on running a 75 for now, but I would like to bump it up to 100 in the near future.

I wish, PF builds are always nice.

BTW, coach k, how did you mount those gauges? I have 5 toggle switches and two gauges I need to mount and I'm trying to figure out how to do it.

Pull the trigger on the NX Octane series gauges! I'd love to see those installed and working on a Z.

I got the gauge holder from CrawfordZ and it comes with 2-52mm cut outs. Its a tight fit so it just slides in, without having to use any screws.
