Default Traction Question

A little background information. I have a 2003 sixspeed 350z. It has about 60k miles. I am running Volk GTC wheels which are 20' and the rears are 275 width and the fronts are 245 width. They are Kumho Ecsta tires. I was wondering what traction would be like with a 100 shot? My buddy has an srt4 with boost controller and 50 shot and he can't even spray in 1st or second. I really don't wanna have that problem and was wondering if I could spray in first and second gear? Thanks : )

I could tell you right now that unless you're running slicks or wider tires than you are right now, you're not going to have traction on first gear with any size shot of nitrous.. Just putting bolt-ons on the Z would make it lose traction on first.

Well, only putting a Borla exhaust with berk HFCs on my HR made wheel spin all day on 245 Potenza's (they were kinda low on thread but doesn't that = more road contact?). I know you have 275s but a 50 shot of nitrous would add how much torque??

Ya my tires a a day old I bought them all yesterday. I have read that a hundred shot can put you in the 290-330 rwhp range. I just think it's stupid to have power when its unable to be used. Anyone with a hundred shot wanna give their input?

380ish whp and 396ft/lbs I could hook up 100% in 2nd gear when warmer than 50 out. 285/35 19 KDW 2 with only -1 rear camber

a 275 tire with -.5 camber will hook better than a 305 with -2 degrees camber

Also remember your buddy is FWD so he deals with weight transfer off the drive wheels as well as power.

Kinda low can equal loss of traction. As tires age they lose their stick. 275s have an extra inch+ of tread. A good brand of fresh tires provides a lot more stick than most realize.

im running a 100whp shot.
!st gear is out of the question lol.

2nd gear is a little trickier, the only way I can hook is if I wot without nitrous and then a second later switch on the nitrous, that way all of the weight is transfered to the back wheels before I spray..
If I wot with the nitrous on
all at once, you'll see me get sideways on the road lol
im running 19" axis penta rims. Their wrapped in Falken FK452's 275 9.5" wide.

Which ecstas are they? I looked on tire rack and there is 21 different types of that tire for cars.

275/30/20 and 245/35/20 Kumho Ecsta SPT. I'm a broke college student. I can barely afford gas lol. I also had to buy brake pads as well as new rotors because they were warped. And get the oil changed. So not having a job I purchased these as they looked like they offered good handling and traction for the money. Maybe this summer I will upgrade but they don't seem too bad...but idk.

Alberto doesn't have nor did he ever have nitrous on his Z (he was talking about his ST set up).

OP, I've tried shots ranging from a 50 hp (35-40 whp) shot to 100 whp shot. Nitrous gives a load of torque down low, so unless you're spraying something under a 50 hp shot you will spin your tires in 1st. Spinning 2nd gear probably requires a 75 whp and higher. I had 275s and I recall spinning 2nd sometimes. I haven't tried 2nd with my 100 whp shot yet, though.

Allright good to know. I am gonna get the NX or Zex kit and the bottle warmer, colder plugs, window switch, purge, and also a baseline dyno and some other dyno's to see how it takes to it. And I'm gonna load the rear wheels first before I spray in second I bet that would help a little.

OP, I can lose traction quite easily in second with 285 rears with KDW's mounted running a 75 shot.

I didnt state that the numbers I posted were with n20, and you dont know jack $hit about my set-up now

OP-the point I was making is that you CAN hook up 100shot on street tires. Alignment is key! I know the characteristics of INSTANT N20 power (also helped a friend run 12.0 his 1st time out on 100 shot), you can hook it up in 2nd.

Because you mentioned nothing about you being ST, not nitrous, when you posted your previous post with your hp and tq numbers, the OP most likely automatically thought that you had nitrous (as seen by his post after yours). We both know the numbers don't reflect that of a bottle fed engine, so I was clearing that up for him.

I may not know "jack $hit about [your] set-up now" (nor do I even care about your or other people's set up), but I know enough to know you don't have nitrous. I was just making sure the OP doesn't misunderstand your post, as he's relatively new.

You really are a bit cranky, huh?
