100 Shot HR! :-)
Hey guys just ordered Zex nitrous kit (also purge/switch/bottle heater/gauge/colder plugs) for my 2008 HR Z. I plan to have everything completed within one or two weeks. I ordered the kit from One Six Motorsports where most of my work has been done already. Currently I have all bolt-on mods for my car except tuning device(Cobb or Uprev) which I plan to purchase sometime this year and u/d pulley which I don't plan on purchasing. Looking to run 100 shot , plan to dyno and get some good #'s sometime this year and 1/4 mile runs All advice is appreciated. Keep you posted.
Thanks
Mo
Thanks

Update from - (One Six Motorsports)
07-08 Zex Nitrous Kit Ordered :-)
Purge kit
Bottle warmer
Bottle opener
Nitrous gauge/pod
Hey guys, should be getting Zex nitrous kit installed next week sometime hopefully! Everything is paid for and ready to go. I might have to stick with 75 shot till I get COBB or UPREV even though I just want to go straight to 100 shot.. Also I'm thinking of hiding the bottle in the passenger side rear compartment.. Any advice? Anyone else with Zex nitrous kit on the HR motor feel free to post your results and comments about the kit? Thanks

If you're on the stock clutch with your HR, then it won't last long with spray (assuming you spray often or race with spray). I personally wouldn't do more than a 75 shot on the stock clutch, unless you want to change your clutch assembly out sooner.
And you should be fine with a 100 shot, even without a tune. My DE with 102K miles is still being sprayed a 100 whp shot without a tune (2 degrees of timing pulled, though). Be sure to keep your eye on the AFR, also. However, for the sake of being cautious, I'd start out with a smaller shot like a 50 shot. Then gradually increase the jet sizes. Baby steps.
As for the window switch, I'd recommend getting one but it is not necessary. As long as you can control yourself to not spray until well into the 3K or at 4K RPM and not around your rev limiter at 7.5K RPM, you should be fine.

Fail.
Don't dive head first with a 100 shot. Take it slow. The recommended jet sizes are rarely accurate from what I've seen. Those are to be used as guides only. So seeing where your AFR lands with the recommended shot that is small will show you how much discrepancy exists between the suggested and actual sizes. From there, you can get an idea as to how much adjusting is required for the fuel jet size for the appropriate nitrous jet size. Again, play with your fuel size, not your nitrous size.
Also, just because my DE engine have withstood the constant beating it gets at the drag strip up to 102K mark doesn't mean that your HR engine can. Logic and common sense would dictate that the newer and improved engine should be able to, but real life doesn't always follow logic. All engines are different.
No offense, but this should all be common sense (taking things slow, adjusting fuel not nitrous, etc). I'm also getting the feeling that you've not read too much into nitrous (and not just from this thread). Maybe you should read a bit more on nitrous before planning things out. There really isn't much to learn about nitrous compared to other things so it really helps the end user to read as much as possible first before attempting anything.

Seriously, start off smaller. If this is your first nitrous equipped car, go with a nice small50 shot to get comfortable with the theory of nitrous, get used to the timing of everything, just get yourself accustomed to it first. It only takes a couple minutes to change jets later on, start small and work up, you will be glad you did.
On a side note, I drilled/tapped my TB spacer plates for nitrous nozzles today, hopefully if I have a day off and it doesn't rain all day like today, i'll get it installed by this weekend.

No offense taken lol. I've had my fun with several modified cars including (mustang gt,mr2,gst,srt4,s2k turbo, and now 350z). I did turbo upgrades, na bolt on upgrades etc.. yet backed down went it came to the nitrous route. As for the s2k went custom manifold/turbo setup. Ran on stock clutch for all my cars and dyno'd 360 whp on s2k and 380 whp on srt4. Depends on how you drive the car as far as clutch goes I think... and the driver...
If you plan on launching and beating on the car I agree the 100 shot will wear it down faster and obvious increased tq levels vs F/I setups, yet how often will I be able to use it. I have done some reading on nitrous setup's and on the z board... also two of my buddies previously ran 100 shot on there DE's as well no problems and bolt on mods. Yet they did go from 75 shot-100 shot. The shop will be in charge of installing everything. Once it has been completed I will go ahead and take it to a dyno. When I see Mark Wed morning I can talk it over. I will definitely consider taking it slow and taking baby steps.
Hopefully this all makes sense lol..
Thanks again!
