Might be a dumb question but its bugging me, sorry to inflict this on you guys, haha.

What would happen if you left the nitrous bottle open. Say I start my car in the morning, open the bottle manually, and then forget about it. Will it leak eventually? Does the nitrous in the lines get stale or anything? I'm just curious, because if there aren't any ill effects, why don't people just leave their bottle open and forget about the bottle opener. And because people don't do this there must be a reason why. Anyone care to share?

hehe, actually, I am unsure of the answer to that question. But I have a few friends with nitrous and have seen pics of nitrous bottles left on and roomate goes to start persons car and boom. I have seen an entire garage in pieces and no more car around for that reason too.

 

I thought it goes Kaboom when you leave the bottle heater on... If the valve is open the worst that can happen is all the nitrous leaks out

 

Yea I think the garage picture you saw had to do with the bottle heater.

 

I believe you are correct. Seems to make more sense...

 

Leave the bottle open, just don't leave the heat on!

I used to wonder that too. The only answer I got that made sense was that it stresses the selenoids so I bought a bottle opener. Selenoids fail first.
