Nitrous setup

Nitrous setup
So I've been reading up on nitrous for the z a 10 lb 75 shot, and I just have a few questions. I was looking at the zex kit for $680 and was wondering if that was all I needed to "run" nitrous. I've read things about the electonic bottle openers, and utec and the throttle position sensors, but i csnt really grasp what they all do and if are necessary. I would like someone to point me in the right direction of things to buy. I noticed there were bottle warmers and other things as well. What would be a good setup?
One set I was looking at

Have you read this thread?

If not, I would start there and keep researching about nitrous. It'll only help with which setup you want to run.

I am going along the same exact path you did. I almost bought the zex kit, but honestly the nx express proton plus kit is cheaper and better quality. i got the nx kit AND auto bottle warmer for the exact same price as the zex kit by itself.
the utec is for tuning your engine, such as retarding the timing to handle the nitrous. you can also program the utec for an rpm window switch and i think a tps switch too. I have one for sale if you like.

you have to retard your timing or you risk detonation. detonation will kill your engine faster than anything. You can retard your timing by hacking the ecu (like uprev osiris) or by adding a piggy-back system like the TurboXs UTEC.

utec can control the solenoids actually and is good for NO2 as the utec is a WOT threshold type of unit. its kind of either off or on.
Take a LOOONG time continuing to read existing threads.
Seriously.
Also, if you ran utec, you dont need the Zex box.
You need a kit w good hardware and nozzles etc.. but the UTEC is the way to go i hear ( started buying all that stuff myself before just going fi).
read up my man, theres stillmore to read before this thread happened. not harshing... but its all in there.

I've got a NX kit in stock, all you'd need is a bottle.
Like mccann said, the UTEC is great for N2O on the Z, but they're discontinued. We JUST sold our last one like 2 days ago, too : /
Post up with any questions!

I have one utec available. check my for sale thread in the engine section. I can let it go pretty cheap. new ones are about $700 and I can sell it to you for half of that if you need it.

IIRC the Zex box controlled the fuel / nitrous mix while the UTEC was simply a fancy WOT and window switch.

the only thing that controls the fuel/ nitrous mix would be the solenoids and jets in the nozzle.

I might be, I was thinking of that little purple box thing with the ports. I thought it acted as the solenoids because I routed the tapped fuel line and nitrous line into it.

that is exactly right. and technically they are solenoids. the aluminum box works as a heat-sink to keep them cool, and to keep them together in one easy-to-mount unit.

My nos maxmimizer 4 is maxing out at 80% so still have 20% to increase should i want to.
