Good luck to you guys, make sure you take pictures, lol

You can get a pc case that is airconditioned, gut it and find a way to mount your bottle in it, lol.

Or build a box and your own air conditioning unit, like this:

You could make a wooden box and line the outside with reflective material like the ones they use for the windshield and have a 240mm computer fan in the box, lol.

I think with the peltier units, the best place to put one is at the bottom of the bottle, get the biggest unit you can that could fit there and just mount a heatsink and fan to it.

That would be cool if you wrapped your bottle with cooper coils and water cooled it.

Let us know what solution you come up with.

Ok, I'm thinking about a peltier "belt" (or series of belts) that has multiple coolers, each with a heat sink. These belts could be latched around the bottle to keep the cool side of the peltier in contact with the bottle. It looks like I would have room for 1-2 belts in between the straps for the bottle mount and possibly 1 belt near the bottom of the bottle as well.

I think that could cool things down pretty quickly and still be practical for getting the bottle in and out for refills. The key will be finding a pressure gauge that can be programmed to trigger the coolers automatically when the pressure gets too high.

The only problem with using so many peltiers is how will you cool the hot side of them? Probably just a copper tubing wrapped around them that leads to a fan.

You can probably use the nitrous express fire and ice controller and just not hook up the heater portion of it.

it will take hours to cool a hot full bottle. that unit is designed to stabilize bottle pressure, not cool it off from HOT. people have tried and failed... u r talking 20 minutes with their single peltier for 25psi drop. u can do better in 10 with a wet towel. its not a bad idea though. i had the same one earlier, did some research, and what i posted above was what i turned up. i think i will be better off cooling the whole trunk, but pulling the air out of the duct with a fan and blowing it right onto the bottle. your hand can get quite cold directly in front of the ac vent when its on 60. a nitrous bottle shouldnt be any different.

Both AC and heat slide one of your seats all the way up and look under from the back.

I meant just use the controller to control an automatic on peltier unit that you create. If sparkle is going to create a peltier belt, it might have a better chance of cooling the bottle than a single unit.

WIth the fire & ice controller, you would have a fully automatic cooler. I wasn't suggesting using the whole unit, you can come up with a better way to cool the bottle, but I haven't figured out a way to make it fully automatic like a bottle warmer.

I think that if it is automated, you won't have to worry about "cooling a fully hot bottle", because once the system reaches a threshold, it will work to keep it cool and keep the pressure down - just like a thermostat. That is a lot easier to maintain than waiting until the system is completely out of range and then trying to recover in a short period of time. I would think that an automated system with multiple peltier coolers, heat sinks, and maybe some type of fan system would be adequate for most circumstances.

It's not like I'm always itching to flip the switch for the remote bottle opener immediately every time that my car has been sitting in the hot sun, either. Plus, if the pressure is still a little out of range, I can just purge a bit. The peltier setup should reduce the amount that I would need to purge even in those worst case scenarios.

…and if not, at least it's a cool setup for my mods list.

i talked to a friend of mine tonight who just got an hr 350z. this guy has always had crazy stereos, and i mean pavement shaking competition stuff where the amps would run hot. we were talking about my trunk ac plumbing idea and he said he did that on his amps in a few of his cars to keep them cool and it worked really well. that said, if you want heat transfer, you need two things, delta T and surface area, increase either of those and heat transfer will follow. i experimented with COLD wet rags the other day and had a lot of success in heating them up. the pressure came down about 50psi in 10-15 minutes. thats not a lot but it illustrates a good point. if i could keep the rags cold... i feel like i would get better results... blow cold air on them and i might be able to get some really good results! i looked at the under seat vents today. they blow a decent amount of air, but thats not whats really important. i would be using them as a cold air source and use a fan to pull the air through the ducts and blow directly onto the nitrous bottle.

If the rags worked for you just put some rags in a cooler of ice water. Looking around for a place to fill up the nano bottle in my area before I buy one.

Can't a FD fill it up for you?

literally, no one fills them here. i had to rent my own 56# tank, buy a regulator, and do it myself. all in all a pain in the ***, but it wasnt nearly as expensive as i thought... around $350 all included. $90 to refill the big one, which im supposed to get 20-25 fills out of according to yellow bullet forums. i am thinking about using wet rags in combination with the cooling vents. that way i can use the air to keep the rags cool, which in turn will have enough surface area on the bottle to make a difference. i think that will work. the first step is getting a rear seat delete built with duct pass through's though...
