Default New to nitrous questions.

I'm thinking about going with nitrous rather than F/I.

Just wondering what mods should I do prior to adding nitrous, and what mods should I avoid etc.

See my sig for existing mods...

These are the other mods I am contemplating. Which will help or hinder.

Plenum
Headers
HF Cats
TD Exhaust
UR Pulleys

Also...dry or wet nitrous. Help me with the basic fundamentals please.

whatever brand you buy (NX,NOS,ect.) you have to buy MSD Window Stwich and the SPX fuel adapter... use the search to Big Bad Nitrous trhead to get more info!

Good Luck!

never ran the window on any of my juiced cars. as long as your engine is spinnin at a high enough rpm compared to the speed of your car and u shift a little early, u'll b fine.

Run the ZEX kit, taps into your TPS and only fires at WOT........get a set of Iridium plugs one step colder or 2 steps colder if you want high HP say 125+ shot...........plus anything over 75 shot then you need to be concerned about timing.............talk to Technosquare about flashing your ECU.............have it dynoed and be sure your A/F ratios are under 12.7 all the way to redline...............MY car loves 75 shot of ZEX and is tuned accordingly..............The plenum, headers and cats will tend to lean your mixture if im not mistaken so be carefull, all will be good if you take the correct measures like i mentioned above...........have Faith and spray hard but SMART.

do not mess with ur timing. you can easily go 150+ before you have to worry abut that. then again, i dont know how other systems work. i have nx, and no timing adjustment is necessary up to a 200 shot. thats the nice thing about n2o. again dont mess with ur timing. and another thing....dyno, dyno, dyno. make sure your not running lean, because the mods ur adding do tend to lean out the car a bit.

peace

Thats why a wideband A/F guage will be installed so I can see whats going on at all times.. Window switch is allways good. When your dynoing and are running lean then you have to buy diffrent jets for fuel so you can add more fuel. But how do you know which ones? Isnt it better to be a tad bit rich at the end of the RPM Band for safty!!!

Default MYSUNSET350Z

Is a 150 shot the highest I can go on a stock motor without worrying about blowing the motor?

Also, what model NX kit do you have? I want to buy the kit next week. I already have a NX kit in my GTA and I plan on using the bottle and heater from that kit to save money.

You should always worry about your motor blowing even with a small shot...........

The key is: If you are worring about blowing up your motor, most likely you will tune it and treat it correctly and it will be reliable and fast for a long time to come........

If you just think it won't blow up untill you get to a certain RWHP number like 150, than most likely you and your car's engine wont even make it to where you intended to go (150)............do worry about the small shots just like the big one's, big or small, they can blow your motor up if you don't treat it with alot... alot..... alot of respect. jUST MY 2 CENTS

The window switch is a safety item... if you miss the gear and rev the car spraying you may damage the engine... so do what ever you want... about the lean condition I'm gonna give you some advice for free... if you go with NX or any other brand and decide to go 100 shot for example, first don't mess with timing(don't need to, believe me) second use the A/F mix sensor that supposed to have every Dyno and keep the mix more than 11.6 but less of 13.4... how can you do that, just go 2 #s high on the Fuel jets for richer condition and 1 # lower for leaner condition...
you don't have to send the ECU to Techno for richer or leanner condition when you spray... Trust me

So in other words when I get the nitrous and they tell me what size jets to put in the fuel and nitrous selenoids, go 2# higher on the fuel jets than what they say- to run fat?

Also where can I get some 2 step colder plugs (iridium)?

Thanks for the help fluidz. I ended up getting the NX 20923-10 kit on ebay for 400 shipped new. NX wanted 600 plus 40 to ship. I appreciate all your help. Mike

Yes Something like that... NX recomends there combo already telling the WHP that you may put on the dyno... NOS and ZEX quote there combos to the crank HP...
example NOS say that 52/28 is 125 HP but really is around 100 at the wheels, so if NX tell you that 100 is 52/28 go with that to the dyno but with 27, 29 and 30 fuel jets to look to that perfect mix... I recomend that you stick with 12.0 to 13.0 range on the A/F mix and you see better and safe results!

Good luck!

there is a wideband that work with the O2 sensors but it is a little expensive... I believe that when you set the car on the dyno for A/F mix you dont have to worry about that anymore... until you decide to put more NOS on the car

I'm running the IKH22 Denso Iridium 2 step colder all ignition and fuel are stock... you can retard the ignition with the consult II (Dealer) to -2 (13 Static) if you gonna spray more than 150 RWHP shot
