Default Getting Close

well, i think i'm gettin pretty close to the point with my car where i'll b ready to start sprayin. i had some juice on my old car ('00 si), and i miss it a lot (not the car). right now, i have i/h/e, cats, kinetix plenum, crank pulley, and the other crap in my sig. got my car dynoed the other day, and it's runnin pretty lean in the lower rpm's and rich in the upper range. i'm gettin an s-afc 2, and plan on dialin that in. someone recommended it, also, due to the feature of 2 map programmin (n/a, n2o).

i'm really itchin to spray again, so i was wonderin if there was anything else u guys would recommend. i think my exhaust is flowin good enough. probly do a flywheel/clutch before, so u wouldn't need to tell me clutch. motor mounts were installed on the civ, but that was mainly because of fwd wheelhop. i had an a/f and fuel pressure gauge, too, but i didn't get to much use outta them. what do u think? thanks.

Whats up man, I'm almost done with my nitrous setup. I once like you had nitrous in my '98 ITR and cant live without it now. Well untill I order the Greddy Kit A must to do is plugs. In my sign are the plugs im running. Get them at any local Auto Zone, might even have them in stock. I had to order mine which took a couple days. No biggie. Alot of Z/G guys are running the plugs i got and some are running the NGK ones. Not sure on the NGK part#. What shot you plan on running. I'm gonna be going running 100-150shot so i went 2 steps colder like people recommended. If your not gonna be running anyhting over 100shot then just do a 1 step colder plug.I have already put the plugs in and have noticed a difference in the smoothness of the engine now. Seems to run so much smoother. Cant wait to get the nitrous going! Very happy with the Denso plugs! And if anyone has better info please repond, still fairly new to the Z world so please correct anyhting if i am wrong. Goodluck!!

personally i think you should go with nitrous express. they're an easy stystem to setup and no control box where something could go wrong.

you can get 1 step colder coppers, but you'll have to swap those out with new ones every 10k miles or so. just get some 1 step colder irridiums and your set. denso makes 1 step colder IKH20 and 2 step colder IKH22 irridiums.

a/f gauge is important. im in the process of installing mine. just make sure its a wideband not a narrowband gauge. fuel pressure gauge is also important if your running on your stock fuel pump with a high hp shot. you'll get adavanced warning of when your pump is starting to give out by the readings.

i rercommend you get a bottle opener. lazy mans best friend.

what clutch are you getting, have you heard/seen anything about clutches? I have seen so many! Stage 1,2,3,4 etc., by so many manufacturers. Then I hear about chatter, etc....

I just want a tight, clean clutch that isnt a mushy piece of shet like the stocker....but, without OVER doing it.

I dont want a dragracer clutch inside my 300 +/- hp z.

probly a nismo clutch. it's a little lighter than stock, and it would work with a jun flywheel. so what is the general concensus of a safe shot on a z? 75 or 100?

if it a wet shot then the sky is the limit, BUT, if you want to keep it safe, then a 100 shot is plenty with stock engine internals.

yeah thats what I want

100 - or even a 120 shot...

if 55-70 is barely even felt, and you need a dyno to see it???!?!

who said a 50 shot is barely felt? an extra 50 ponies will make your car jump for sure, but nothing like the jolt a 100 shot gives.

true me, you'll know when the nitrous kicks in. there is no other feeling like it. even if you say you want to do a 50 shot now, im sure you'll up that once you try it and want more.

be safe.

let me put it this way. i gained .70 seconds in the quarter mile on a 50 shot. that is a huge difference in a quarter mile over stock. you will feel that. you will get pushed back in your seat even if it is just a bit, and you will hear your engine got nuts once you start to spray.

another thing. zex dont rate their shots to the wheels like nitrous express does. so he was probably only getting about 35hp to the wheels with the 50 shot. i can see where that might not be too noticable in his case. stick to nx...IMO

Default nx

That is quite a large improvement! What does the motor do? Doesn't sound like its gonna fly apart, does it? Also, do you have auto or 6 spd. Friend of mine said that manual w/clutch is a lot harder to not blow up the motor if you let the rev limiter come on, leaving nos in the head wothout fuel. factory system cuts off fuel when that happens, leaving the nos. Burns pistons up....

there are rev "window" devices you can get for the systems. do you have? I think zex comes with all that safety ****. That is why I wanted to get it!

do you have a link to a good buy for the nx? Mayabe a 70-125 kit? I'll go the LOWEST setting, but i want to feel that bad boy....

it just gets loud. louder then the usual. the tone gets a bit deeper too.

Also, do you have auto or 6 spd. Friend of mine said that manual w/clutch is a lot harder to not blow up the motor if you let the rev limiter come on, leaving nos in the head wothout fuel. factory system cuts off fuel when that happens, leaving the nos. Burns pistons up....
i have an auto. my setup is a bit different though. i have my system set up so the system only sprays when im in WOT and in manual mode. it shuts itself down when im shifting to keep the tranny from blowing up and then turns back on as soon as i let go of the shifter. this isnt something you need unless you have an auto. it less of a hassle for me that way. no buttons to push. you really dont want to bounce off the rev limiter while spraying. its one of the worst thigns to do to your engine. once you reach fuel cutoff and begin to run super lean, its only a matter of time before something goes wrong and you have a gaping hole in the side of your engine. might not happen right away, but it will eventually.

i just recently bought an rpm window switch from msd ignition. it doesnt require any rpm pills like other switches. i havent hooked it up yet. i've had my n2o system for almost 2 years and havent hit the rev limiter yet. still debating weather or not to install it. i would recommend it with a manual tranny setup though. i dont believe zex kits come with the rpm window switch. might have to buy that seperate.

go to nitrousexpress.com and figure out what you want from there. dont buy anything off of that site though. its too expensive. just find a local dealer threw that site and buy your stuff from there. your gonna want the stage 1 efi kit. comes with 35-50-75 shot jets. if you want a 100 shot, all you have to do is buy the jets for it. just cost a couple bucks, no big deal. this is a good time to think about how much your looking to spend. there are a ton of add-ons you can get with the kit that make your life a lot easier. (bottle opener, bottle heater, gen-x accessory kit to name a few)
