well, being the picky guy i am i decided to make a custom switch control panel for my nitrous as well as have it house my a/f gauge. i made it from aluminum, then brushed it by hand with steel wool to get the brushed look to match the interior. i then silicon sprayed it to keep it from tarnishing & resist fingerprints. im pretty happy with the final results. here is the finished product on my desk at work:

Or how do you make A/F gauge work?
I've a digital one and have no clue to do it.

Tap off the UPPER o2 sensor on the drivers side(easy to get to.)
Just take off the intake tube and trace the wires from the o2 sensor..I think mine was Green/brown but check it with a multi meter its the wire that will have a varyible voltage at idle..

i did all my installations myself, very easy! you can also use pin #16 at the ECU. be careful if you own an 04 or 05 as the pin # might change, also the voltage reading to the ECU was different for some reason!

Nice job, now get an a/f guage thats worth a $hit...thats a narrow band get a wideband...

 

so do you have a wideband alberto? or are you one of those guys that reads stuff & then makes comments because you heard it somewhere else?

if you dont know how to tune without wideband or are afraid of doing so then get a wideband. indeed wideband is a superior tuning device but ive been using the old school type a/f meters for years on several cars & got used to them as well as having great success with them. they really only work well when under full throttle wich is where your a/f is most critical anyways. in my case major tuning is done on a dyno, then the a/f guage is merely a monitor to keep an eye on things in between mods. thanx for the "nice job" comment though........

I am installing a cheap A/F gauge too and I tried the wire #16 at the ECM and got like 2V+ so its probably not the right wire since mine is 2004 build date 6/2003. Anyone got any idea which wire # for 02 sensor?

Where is this 02 sensor wire from the intake tube? Thx.

wadd3456, that looks great! what guages do you have in there & what are the smaller holes for? i had the white protective coating on my aluminum as well. i did all my fitting with my panel flipped over too untill it was fully completed. i wanted to do a dual guage pod as well but i would not have had enough room for my switches. im currently trying to design one where i can ad another guage as well as keep my switches. i wnt to put an electric n20 pressure guage in there.......i take it your a machinist? amaizing what a bandsaw, drill press, cutoff wheel & a sandwheel can do for ya, hehe.....

oh yeah, i was thinking of making an accentric spacer for each guage so the guages will face you as the factory ones do. would look pretty neat & shoudnt be too hard to do.....

do get a wideband gauge and o2 sensor. i ran the narrowband for a while and it sucked and was good only for show. the thing was bouncing all over the place. 2 days later i dropped $340 for a converter and wideband sensor. much better. oh and another 40 to have a shop weld a new bung in my test pipes.
