I was mostly joking in my post.. poking fun at Billy saying that he is preparing for track day #1 with a ridiculous amount of gear. You can take a stock Fiesta to the track if you want to
If you haven't heard it once - let me be the first to repeat what more experienced driver's have said.. 'Improve the driver first, then improve the car to meet your skills.' It all depends on what 'your' goals are... and your budget obviously.
On a serious note, similar to Rob, I have been considering at least a harness bar for my Z. It is only a thought at the moment as my fun/car spending is at a stand-still for the moment. The job front is.. uncomfortable. and I'm not even in the auto industry.

Actually Steve, you might want to be careful if you're installing just a harness bar itself.
Think about it, with a roll bar, if/when you do roll the bar is set higher than the drivers head so that it supports the impact loading when hitting the ground.
Now with just a harness bar and harness, the drivers head still sits as the highest point (besides the roof obviously) and since you're now constrained in the harness, you can't even move your head and thus it absorbs most of the load during rollover impact.
That's why IMO, if you want to add a harness, use a roll bar instead of a harness bar. But that's just my opinion.

there's quite a few members that are frequently trackign their car with just harness bars and no issues . the roll cage thing is just take away the whole feeling of a street car . only time i will install a roll cage is when i gut my whole interior out and make it a track car otherwise rollcage with no power is pretty overkill don't you think ?
btw i do need a helmet . where did you guys bought yours ?

Yeah they have no issues, until they roll their car.......
Anyways, I bought mine from www.saferacer.com But a lot of my coworkers have been getting theirs from www.apexperformance.net and if you use the code "XMAS2008" you can get 10% off right now
You can thank me buy giving me a ride in the TTZ

Billy
Love the G it is a cruiser man
Its pretty quick, but to be honest I miss the feel fo the Z.
The G is just a BIG car man...
I disagee, I know about 15+ cars that get driven on the street 75-80% of the time and have a cage for the safety of those inside. My Camaro should have one and probably will when I am done. That takes nothing away from it being a "street car" its just being safe. Also the structural rigidity will make it turn better as well. That is my opinion, that is all....

I don't know what its called but there is a bowling alley on coolidge just north of 13 mile.
Its 2 miles from 696 woodward exit which will give everyone easy access to it.
Also the 14 miles exit from 75 is close too....
Just thinking this might be the easiest place for everyone to get too.
Might get a better turnout that way.
Just a thought...
THey have a decent bar in there too, pretty christmassy as well.
