Detroit Area Z List part 3
I think most of us are fairly new at this still. I have done 2 autox, and 1 HPDE. It all depends on the driver, and I am sure I will be the best.(j/k) The competition part will make this more interesting as I am sure it will make some of us push are cars a little to far.
My dad has an AP1 s2k. It is definitly a fun car to drive and easier to drive at the limits. I will see if I can get him out there this year a couple of times.

All this talk about the track is getting me so pumped to get out there. Hell, it's getting me pumped to just go drive my car down the street. It sucks that it's more then 5 months away though.
lols aj experience on the track , we'll see who has the most experience out there next year . i can't wait to see what my z will do on this track with my set up cusco f/r swaybars , hks hipermax III sport coilovers , 275 30 19 front 295 30 19 rears .endless 6pot 14" 2 piece rotors, the sidewall on these tires are a little thing but should be good . should be able pass you like you were standing still on the straight away kakakaka .

Billy is right
I have no real track experience in a 350Z at all, let alone a new 370Z.
My experience was in an old Triumph with full race prep, VERY big difference.
I have only driven on a trakc with street tires a handful of times.
I bet I will be able to hold my own in whatever group they give me.
Steve, and Rob probably have me licked with being used to there car.
Billy,
Sorry to hear about your friend that would kick you off racing for a LONG time
You have all that crap done to yours I bet I will still hangwith you if not beat you...Keeping your car on the track will be a handful in and of itself. Let alone the track times. I would LOVE to give it a try thought.... :-)
We'll switch one track session and see what is what if you want.. LOL

I couldn't care less if you all pass me at the track. My main focus is on my safety, driving, technique, and fun. The moment I start thinking about something other than MY driving - is when I start to make mistakes. Listen to your instructor, be safe, stay focused, have fun!
Here is a video clip of Gingerman for anybody interested-

Amen Dil,
Steve has had his close calls, but you do have to push the limits or you never get better.
I can not count the amount of spinouts, brake locking spins, catch the dirt coming out of a corner and the *** just goes haywire experiences I have had.
It teaches you too get better, thats why these are so much fun.
Does anyone know if an instructor is mandatory after the initial session.
I will need to brush up that is for SURE

Steve - Somehow I was able to download a movie to youtube and it actually has sound. When I get some more time I will try and get some from the track uploaded for everyone to see.
Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzJjuq4trSI
I can garuntee you very little of this depends on how fast your car is, how good it can handle, or how big the brakes are at this type of driving event. At the last even I passed C5 Corvetts and a 2006 ferarri F430. I know both o those cars are a lot faster than my Z. I am not saying I am a great driver, I am just saying they were really bad. Most of all steve is right. Everyone needs to go out and have fun, but make sure to be safe.
Rob - I have never run with this group before, so I cant comment on it. The layout looks similar to the way the other one I went to was.

I sent a message to 3Balls asking for more info - I'll post up the reply when I get it.
I hope you asked them if they would do anything for group rates?
Dil - I love those rims, and if you are going for show you definitly picked the right ones. They are definitly heavier then you rays. What size tires are you going to be running?
I got a quick reply from 3balls about their track day. Below is my message, followed by 3ball's reply.

I attended an event hosted by CGI Motorsports this year and it was considered an HPDE with an instructor in the car for the first 3-4 sessions... also a morning class and afternoon class. The course was also 'coned' for turn-ins, apex and track out points.

So, in summary, this is an open track day. This is exactly what Waterford does on OTDs.

Steve
Our events are more of an open track day. We do have instructors available but they are on a first come first served basis. We do have a classroom session on the morning. There are always beginners at our events and we encourage that.
Feel free to give me a call to talk about it more.

That is kind of a bummber that it is more like an OTD. I like having instructors in the car for the first few sessions. I would like to learn a couple of things each time I go out, and then pratice for rest of the day.
