Detroit Area Z List part 3
OH NOES!!! You must be a new Z owner! ZdayZ is the best thing about the Z heritage other than its racing pedigree!!

I missed last year due to not owning a car... but i didn't miss the others!
I wont even miss it owning my Lotus instead of a Z! Its a blast! I think the rooms are all booked by now! I'd suggest calling fontana village and see if they still have something available!

holy lordy! Thats your Vector W8 huh! I've seen this car at AutoZone before
how does one go from a 200+ mph car to a Nismo Z in the same garage! Beautiful car. Always been stunned by the looks.

people drive from Idaho for this...
ZdayZ's is enormous.
I've been to the Tail of the Dragon 5 times. I go once a year. I missed ZdayZ's last year but I still made it out to the dragon. Its a life ritual I have... I won't miss a Dragon run once a year.

Amazing stretch of road.
Went down to ZdaysZ in May '08.... Nissan's everywhere..... Z's everywhere. Awesome 300ZXs, 350s and got see at least one R34 and R35.
The Dragon is the craziest road I've ever driven on, go down to NC and try it.
Bring some warm clothes and plenty of alcohol because it gets cold as hell at night up there.

WHP isn't a replacement for experienced track time and a car that handles
I've lapped many of Exige S's at grattan, gingerman, and waterford... reason? More fearless and harder on the brakes
experience will always trump horsepower.
Every GLLC event I've watched a little ol' exige S hold up with a GT3 with mods... not saying the driver in the GT3 isn't also AMAZING! Because he's a veteran too but that exige driver is epic with his vehicle.
Investment in self > Investment in vehicle

Sounds like a challenge... only one way to fine out
Dil... I'm not being mean... but how many track days have you been too
Driving on the freeway doesn't prepare you for a race track. I'm far from veteran myself. But I've got 4 years of autoX experience and a full year of track moving from beginner to intermediate / advanced.
I'm not worried about your whp number
I worry about the 10 year vet in advanced with a little 914 porsche that is gonna crush me cuz he DOESN'T miss an apex and DOESN'T miss the opportunity for late braking. And if you wanna come out you should!! We have a ton of events this year numerous of Waterford track days, a 2 day gingerman event, 3 day grattan event, and I'll be heading out for Mid-ohio and Putnam this year too!
^^ Couldn't say it any better than that!
Jeff will you be there this year?? Hope we can all meet up! I got a willow cabin just find the non-Z car at the event lol

It is very true that experience means much more than horsepower.
It could only be a challange if you actually went to the track. I am sure Bobbafettm will be there, will you?
edit, changed to correct spelling.

handle yourself?!!? Dil how many track days have you been to?? How many times have you had an instructor next to you telling exactly what you did wrong!!!
You can't go from street to track and think your hot ****. It just doesn't work... that type of attitude would not fly at a track day... your instructor will bench you and tell you that you don't know crap.
The only way to learn how to drive correctly and fast is to by having someone teaching you. Step by step. How to control yourself to use a single motion to go around a turn. How to properly point your car for the apex. How to set up your vehicle for literally three turns up!!
its not something just naturally given to you... even Hamilton will tell you it was from GREAT teachers... not from some crazy mind set that you can do well on a freeway or in a video game.
Track racing isn't horsepower. Its about skill... its about handling... its about focusing and staying focused.
