ok so I've been bitten hard by the modding bug the past couple weeks.

Now I'm looking into getting an intake. I figured since I'm getting a tune, I should do every performance mod I planned. Well I was planning on just sticking with the OEM intake, but thinking of getting a JWT popcharger. Jon tried to sell me one a few years back but the rumor of the car stalling at high speeds scare the crap out of me. Can't have this happening on the track lol. But is this true? Or just a rumor?

So you guys think I should get an intake before I get it tuned or just stick with the OEM? I don't care for the sound, but is it worth the extra 6-10 hp? I'm kinda leaning towards no, just for the reliability. And focus on more track time. I just feel it's not completely worth it if I don't have the intake......(ok going back to study)

edit: Forget it.....I have ADD. I'm just gonna stick with the OE box and switch to the 06 if I ever find one. No rush

For sure!! Hey..do you guys have any experience with that wheel/tire insurance that dealers sell? Last year, 2 tires got plugged by the dealer (not plugged/patched) and I just do NOT feel comfortable at all with having these tires on the car. Dealership claims plugs are safe, apparently they're illegal in the state of MI and Belle Tire nor Discount Tire will even repair a tire that has been plugged.

Thoughts?

Rob, stalling at high speed?! That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. lol I've had the popcharger for 3 years with zero problems.

Brian, auto addictions, 120 bucks....If I were to do it again. I would buy the tool myself.

rob, i've had a popcharger for about a year now too, and have had no problems at all. and i've had her up to some pretty high speeds too....

Rob - the stalling that you speak of did happen. The reason for it was an incorrect installation and putting the car in neutral at 130+ to coast back down to speed (which should never be done anyways) I tried to find the thread but didnt have any luck. I forget the SN of the person who did it. But it did happen to a couple others for the same reason. The problem was more with inexperienced drivers than the pop charger.

Basically if you install it correctly and keep your car in gear, then you will have no issues. Like posted above most people have never had any issues.

Thanks for the info guys. Hal said he might have a popcharger around the shop that we could throw on during my tune to see if it makes a difference.

More than likely though I'll just stay with my DE airbox unless I find an 06 airbox for sale. Don't think intakes make that much of a power difference anyways, plus I like the sound of my exhaust more

yesterday i saw a bitchin' all black 370, with what looked like black chrome GTR wheels. it was around the southfield road/11 mile area. kick *** car! anyone we know?

yea i do, i wanted something to tie in the rear Cwest carbon add ons, and using the rear Veilside pieces would work perfectly! might have to make an extension bracket for them though. im looking into it.

Rob, I have my old popcharger if you want to use it for testing purposes. I found a good deal on a 2006 airbox, so I decided to use that instead. Let me know.

I wasn't too sure about adding the Veilside underwings to your side skirts. I see what you had in mind. Personally, I think you should go with CF side skirts and body color paint the top 75%. Do the same with the CF rear add ons too.

I just ordered a Tourenn rear bumper that should arrive sometime this week. Otherwise, I would have bought them from you.

Scott (Skingy), You should pick these up to go with the CF sides I sold you.

ok FINALLY got the bumper installed. Still doesn't fit as well as I want, but whatever.

Comments:

1) If this thing was fiberglass, I would have killed it already lol.
2) Ended up not being able to use the foam energy absorber. After trying to trim and trim it, there was no way it would work.
3) All the bolts to the fender are so tight and pulled to the limit, hopefully they don't snap while driving lol.
4) The bumper is currently also pressed into both headlights cuz there was no way to get the fender bolts to line up without that happening.

Basically the bumper is stretched to the limit right now, kinda like a ticking time bomb lol. After all this I think I'm done with installing replicas. From now on it's either go authentic or have a shop do the install.

Anyways, maybe I'll do a proper adjustment one day, but for now hopefully everything holds up at high speeds

Love the bumper...I am sure you posted this, but what replica did you go with. My front bumper needs a sanding and repaint and I was thinking about a new front bumper (like Nismo V2).
