Z owners in Chicago
Happy Holidays to all. I will be purchasing a Z within the next few months(Brickyard-Performance model) and I was wondering about the insurance cost in the Chicago area. It is a fact that people living in the city have higher premiums as opposed to those in the suburbs. Can any of the new Z33 owners living in Chicago discuss their insurance cost? I just want to get an idea about how much I will be paying to cover the Z. Thanks.

City Z owner here and yes it is more expensive (much more) to insure here in the city. There are creative ways around this, however. I pay city rates of 900 annually for my Z which is based on multiple cars/homeowners and safe driver status.
Good luck...

You may want to consider joining the local Z club. Lots of good info. Windy City Z club. Can get you info if desired.
If you see the following plate, you will know who it is!

Since this thread IS for Z owners in Chicago, why not post info about Winy City Z club here? Im interested defintiely. Talking with real people that share the same interest in cars as you is totally different from posting messages on teh internet with them.

Or you guys can sign up at www.thedriven.org Its the Midwest largest Nissan Enthusiast Group, but most of the gatherings will be in the Chicagoland area. The last BBQ in September was a success tho, lots of Nissan's showed up, im guessing more than 50 showed up. Unfortunantly the BBQ was cut short due to the rain. And one 350z showed up which was Frank's Z, a very nice car indeed. Not only we have BBQ's but also we go to the track once in a while, and have gatherings at certain places or restaurants, and exchange info on how to make our car perform better, or sell items that is not needed anymore by one Nissan owner but is need by another. I hope the 2003 season will be a lot better. And a lot more gatherings. As the 350z sales go up, hopefully more and more Z's will be showing up to these events.

My insurance runs $381/6 mo with Allstate. I have a $250 collision and a $0 comprehensive deductable, multi car/policy discount. I'm 34 with a clean record.
Insurance rates are all based on zip codes. Several years ago I moved from Wrigleyville to Edison Park (NW side of the city) and my rates dropped a bit. When I moved from there to Mount Prospect, they dropped quite a bit more.
We have had a few get togethers with Chicago Z owners back when some of us preorders got our cars. I look forward to meeting some of the new people, especially when the weather gets better.
