Do you get bothered alot by police for having your front windows tinted? I don't mean getting a ticket for tinted windows AFTER you have been pulled over for speeding. Who's pulling you over, local/county police or state troopers?

I live in Illinois and have Platinum Tint on my windows. I have had it on for about 1 year and haven't had any problems with police yet. I live in a small town in Illinois, but travel around Chicago often. No problems yet.

After being out today I have seen alot of cars with tinted windows, mostly BMW, Benz, $$$ suvs...I wonder if they ever get bothered by the 5-0. Somehow I doubt it.

Yep, I have had problems with tints on all my cars except for this Z. But I did move out to the city right around when I picked up my Z. What kind of tints do you have? I think its pretty ridiculous if you are getting pulled over for tints...You must have some crazy pigs out where your at. I got a black z,, with limo tints on the two small windows by in the back and on my rear windshield and 20% tints on the front two. NO problem..

I got tints on my G Sedan (35% all around) and belive it or not I GOT PULLED over IN THE CITY. He didnt give me a ticket though, he just said to get them off. Out of all the places that I would thought I get bothered it would be anywhere but the city.

My cousin's a cop and he said that there are some city cops that HATE tints and WILL pull you over and ticket it you for it. So dont count the city out. Although I am the first to hear about getting bothered in the the city.

i was pulled over once and given a verbal warning to have them removed. It was a county cop tho if it makes a difference.

i live in schaumburg... and lately they have been very strict about this tint's/ front license plate deal. For the first 12 months of my cars (since feb 05) i didnt get pulled over once for tints. Starting march till last week... i have been pulled over 6 times for tints, real annoying so i finally took them off.. next week i get pulled over again for no license plate! AGGH!!!!!!!!!! no im trying to get a front frame for that, i hate the cook county court house so much

Got pulled over once in my town for tint. The cop said, " you know tinted windows are illegal, don't you?" I replied, " Yes, and when you remove them from your unmarked squad car, I will remove mine" Have not been pulled over since!

I don't know about IL, but in VA state and local police, fire and emergency service vehicles are exempt from state tint laws.

As I see it..you can't think your above the law and then try to enforce the law. It is simple contradiction.

I agree with you on the tint issue, but there are circumstances where I'd like an ambulance to speed so that they can get to me faster if I'm hurt. So there are exceptions. Same reason we allow police to wear weapons. Unfortunately in VA, there have been petitions to get the tint law changed, and they never make it through the process.
