Where to buy helmet in Metro Detroit Area?
Hello,
I am auto crossing in a few weeks and need to buy the following
1. Helmet
2. Belts and Arm Restraints
Where can I find these locally? Do not want to buy over the internet because I will never know the fit. I have bought motorcycle helmets and know that buying online is a bad idea.
Also do you have any suggestions for decent helmets? I am looking for SA rated helmet.
Thanks

To be honest, I always buy my helmets online. I have never found a store that stocks SA rated helmets. Most online vendors have good return policies. I can post a link when I get in to my office. I would not buy belts or restraints just yet. Not worth the money if you are just getting into the sport. Is the Z your daily driver?
I got my Bell helmet at...

got mine at www.saferacer.com (Bell M4)
got my gf's at www.apexperformance.net (I have a 10% off coupon too if you want to use it) I would order from apex just because they're slightly cheaper, I have a coupon, and they give you a free helmet bag with it.
You don't need any extra restraints for autox. Factory seat belts is fine.

Thanks for all the replies.
I am debating if I should use my motorcycle helmet for the first event? I checked the event and there does not seem to be a restriction that an SA rated helmet should be worn.
My motorcycle helmet is Snell/DOT certified so it should fall under M category.
Comments?

nope. They check all helmets at the tech inspection. You will need to have SA rated or borrow one of theirs.
If you're worried about price, you can get a full face for about $300ish. Or you can get a open face for $200.

Bought a Bell M4 White at AVERILL RACING in Madison Heights. Came out to 402 OTD.
I also got an oil change done today at the dealer so, I am all set for the autocross.
