Default Lake Michigan Poker Run

Well the Midwest Motor Club is at it again! looking for drivers to attend the next Drive.

Well due to popular demand we will be doing the Lake Michigan drive again on June 27th, 2009. The first one was a hit and the guys had a blast so they want to do it again. Like to see even more of you guys. I think this time i will be getting better footage. possibly getting a film crew for some of our events as well.

more details can be found on my site. http://www.midwestmotorclub.com/?p=52

^^ No, not at all. The start point is pretty far away. The route looks pretty good though. How long of a drive is it and what is the general pace?

Keeping up is not a problem. It's a valid question. When I take a group out, I'm careful to make sure no one is in danger or ends up with a handful of traffic violations. For example, I will do the Hell run at a spirited pace ... not all out racing speeds. (Over 100mph)

I have run with the Michigan Ferrari Owner's Club and I found their pace to be just fine. The cars were well within their limits, everyone respected each other by keeping a safe gap between cars and no one crossed the double yellow lines. We even lined up the cars according to their performance levels. (So a slower car wouldn't hold up a faster car.)

I took out a group from the RX-8 club and honestly they wouldn't keep up. I had to keep pulling over and waiting for them to catch up.

I've also been with groups that want to blister the road with no regard to safety. Squealing tires, fish tailing, tailgating, crossing the lines and generally pushing the car beyond its limits is a sure recipie for disaster. Basically they were frat rats driving a Beemer that Daddy bought and will fix after it's broken.

Before I commit to a nice event like this, I think I'd like to try out a local event first. Just to get a feel for the group and driving style. With the cars I've seen so far, I'm sure there's no concern. Keep us updated on future events.

LOL - I kind of assumed you just drank Red Bull. J/K

Still, it looks like a blast. If you do a fall run, I might be joining up for that. It's a good time to see the colors change all along that route.
