2x Gingerman
2x Grattan
2x Mid-Ohio (hopefully, I don't know. Haven't tried this yet

I am hoping that CCM will have some autoXs posted before too long. I would really like to get my dad out to a few before I take him to Gingerman.

Hey mw9, hope to see you at some events too! Feel free to add yourself to the excel sheet if you plan to attend any of the ones listed

I'm guessing you'll be attending more Mid-Ohio / Blue grass / Putnam events

So is the SEMPCA thing at Waterford a good one to start at? I see it's listed as a "drivers ed" day which sounds pretty keen.

I guess I should go find some place to get a helmet...

SEMPCA - South East Michigan Porsche Car Club of America.

This is a very good car club to start the HPDE's with, the track not so much. You just have to respect the track and be careful. But it's nothing to be afraid of, I started my first track day last year with SEMPCA and it was a blast.

For the 160 you pay you get food in the afternoon and good instructors. You will also need to get your car inspected at one of the service shops listed on their website HERE

These places charge you an inspection fee of about 50$ if you are not their customer. They also run promotions on a certain day where you can get it done for FREE. It's very important you get these done a week before the event so that you can fix if something needs to be done.

Let me know if you have other questions, I had tons when I started last year

FYI I've been getting free inspections at Gilson Motorsports (www.gilsonmotorsports.com) for SEMPCA Track days since they are sponsors.

Where did you get your helmet fitted/etc?

Would y'all recommend any place in particular for the inspection and maybe to have SS brake lines put on and some good fluid put in? I thought about buying a power bleeder but that seems like it would be a lot of horrible work. :P

I believe that helmets SHOULD always be bought at a local store with proper fitting. Helmet is one piece I do not look to save money on, both my motorcycle and car helmets were bought at a B&M store. I got mine in Madison Heights - Avril Racing, HERE's the thread on it

Since your car is new, the only thing I would do is brake bleeding. It is actually very easy. If I can do it (considering I am the opposite of being handy) anybody can

Don't spend any money on the car for the track in the beginning. Spend as much as you can on you, the DRIVER Buy more seat time, that will give you a lot more in return.

regarding Brake Bleeder, it's a very useful piece if you track more often. For the first time I can lend you mine and if you think you will do more track days then definitely buy one. It's very inexpensive.

Rob was going to borrow mine, we can plan for some weekend in May and try to get this bleeding done all of our cars.

AH! I remember that helmet thread now.

I've helped bleed brakes in old grain trucks before... I just remember how error prone it seemed. We didn't have a power bleeder or anything like that though.

For safety sake I want to get new pads and fluid since there have been several reports of the stock pads failing instead of fading. I figure if I have to bleed the brakes for new fluid I may as well get SS lines.

Added couple of more events in August @ Grattan. I am now registered and paid for the following events

- Mid-Ohio event on May 24th.
- Grattan for Aug 7-8

For now it seems like Lee (lbk16) and myself are attending the Mid-Ohio. Any one interested?

Fyi, if you pay before Feb 14 the payment is 200. After that its 235 and after May 1 it is 245 @ Mid-Ohio
if you pay before Feb 28 the payment for whole weekend at Grattan is 250. After that its 175 per day or 300 for weekend @ Grattan

New Z???? Brake Upgrade????

I thought you already had the sport version with the Akebono brakes. If you are doing an aftermarket upgrade, care to sell me those Akebonos?
