Does anyone work with or tune the unichip in the midwest area? I live in Chicago and am willing to travel. I think I may have wasted $425 seeing as i cant find anyone that works with the damn thing.....Biggest rip off ever

Thanks in advance for any help guys!

P.S. Feel free to flame me up for not doing my research

no ****.. they still list unichip on their site. Kind of surprised they don't tune it anymore

Just looking at unichip's site they list the following in IL:
Ultimate Driver Inc in Mundelein, IL
and
Pefromance Auto Werks in Plainfeild IL

Yea thats what the tuner at GRD is telling me. He quoted me at $650 which includes dyno time and a valet map mode. Is this a good price and how much of a difference will i see between the two. (uni vs. uprev) Thanks again!!

In my experience, you are more likely to be running a bit lean if anything. tuning a N/A setup on a DE is going to net VERY little in terms of power... so don't get your hopes up. It will clean things up a bit tune wise, but other than that, doubt you will notice much of anything

Really? Ive heard uprev really makes a difference with increasing mid range torque. And i know someone that had a DE w/ full bolt ons no uprev and would just barely gain about 1 car length on a VW GTI from a rolling 40mph start until about 110 mph, after that he would leave the GTI considerably fast, but after he got uprev the GTI couldnt even come close to holding one gear with the DE. Maybe its all about your tuner...Oh yea, i plan on getting my UPREV and tune within the next 2-3 weeks, IMO the "valet map" you can have installed, and knowing your car is fine tuned to your specific modes makes this system worth the $. I will be more than happy to post my results as soon as i have them!

Thanks for the input guys!

time will tell, but it's been pretty well known that the DE doesn't respond well to tuning or N/A modifications.

I had done my car up with all sorts of N/A mods... headers, test pipes, plenum, exhaust, intake, pulleys, etc... and added a tune. from baseline, my car made about 26 more hp with just about everything I could throw at it.

Actually tuning makes a huge difference, especially on the first gen DE's. If you're only looking at peak HP then you're working with the wrong platform.. but for what it is a proper tune makes a world of difference even on a stock car.

I have been around long enough to know what this platform is good for. If you want to measure gains in 5-10hp you will be fine going n/a and a tune. You want to measure gains in 100's you boost it. Too bad I spent the money and time trying the n/a route before going fi.

I won't saying getting a tune is a bad thing. Only; don't have too high of expectations on gains
