Default Update on my April 18th Meet in Chi-town

Well, I'm sitting here looking at theweatherchannel.com and cnn.com's weather section and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. Temperature in the 70's, but Isolated Thuderstorms Saturday and Sunday. Within the past year, I've lost all faith in the weather forecasts in this area, so I'm not going to let this distinguish my spirits entirely... I've seen them make very inaccurate predictions about the weather. Of course, the only time they say it'll be raining is over the weekend. The rest of this week looks good, the Monday after the meet looks good, but just Saturday and Sunday (and also next Wednesday and Thursday, but that doesn't matter). I'm not going to call it off YET, but just know that there's a good chance that it'll be moved to the back up date (Sunday, April 25th). So I don't want anyone detailing their car for hours when it doesn't look like it's going to rain, go to Moraine Valley at 3:00pm, and wonder where the hell everyone is (PLEASE CHECK YOUR E-MAIL SUNDAY MORNING BECAUSE YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED BY THEN WHETHER OR NOT THE MEET WILL TAKE PLACE THIS SUNDAY). I have full intentions of washing my car Saturday or Sunday and waiting it out to see what the weather is really like (and I'd encourage everyone to do so, because no one wants to be informed that the meet is going to take place and not have time to wash their car and either not show up as a result or show up with a really dirty car). ****, I'll even show up at Moraine Valley if it is raining just so that any misinformed person who shows up doesn't get too confused (hell, I'd have the meet in the rain if I thought everyone would go - and since I'll be there anyway, anyone who wants to join me is welcome). Like I said, though, I'm not yet calling this off, I'm going to hope the forecasters are wrong like they have often been.

For the people who are getting this as their first notification: Moraine Valley Comunity College (10900 S. 88th Ave, Palos Hills Il 60465), SOUTHERNMOST parking lot (parking lot directly off of 111th St.), 3:00pm meet, cruise after that. If weather is not permitting (as I mentioned) the meet will be pushed back 1 week to the 25th, same time same place.

So, in conclusion, I'll be there no matter what, rain or shine, but I don't expect anyone else to be there if it rains (I know how some people are about driving the Z in the rain, let alone standing in it and looking at the cars - though I think many cars look really sweet when their wet). I'll notify everyone with a definate decision the morning of the meet, so be watching. If you won't be able to get that e-mail, let me know your cell number or a number at which I can reach you and I'll just call to let you know.

That is all for now (of course, if I remember anything else I wanted to say, I'll send another e-mail about it). Pray to whichever god(s) you chose to pray to that we have good weather this weekend. It's been too long since I've seen many of my Z friends, and I can't remember the last time it was in the 70's and sunny in Chicago (I'm sure it was before the last meet - it was starting to get kind of cold already then). Not to mention there are lots of people whom I have yet to meet, and am looking forward to meeting.

Hey, if worst comes to worst, we can have a "whose wax is better" competition in the rain Or you can all show up in your daily drivers and admire the (at least) one Z (mine) that will be there, lol.

Like I said, keep planning as if it's going to happen. I'll let everyone know if that definately changes.

Randy (ZLover4Life)
Ultimate Z

P.S. PLEASE LET ANYONE YOU'VE TOLD ABOUT THIS MEET KNOW THE SITUATION SO THAT THEY DON'T SHOW UP AND GET PISSED AT YOU FOR NOT KEEPING THEM UP-TO-DATE. As I said, I'll be there anyway, but I don't want anyone feeling like they're left out because they weren't properly informed.

that's fine, I'll likely have a follow up on the 25th for the few people who are scared of the potential rain. Probably less formal, but still a Z gathering.

Sure, BriGuyMax, I'll add you to the list when I get off work tonight!

Don't forget, there are already two Z events on the weekend of the 25th. The Z club's dyno day is the 24th, and the cruise into Wisconsin is the 25th: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=61589

By the way, I passed you on my way home from work tonight... that's definitely one sweet Z.

BriGuy - Pop chargers are now in stock (amusing part, now that the Z33 pop charger is available, the Z32 [300ZX] pop charger is on back order!).
Anyone else with questions on parts can ask me at the meet =D

RedLine - where did you see me? I believe I remember seeing a Red Line 350Z, but I can't recall where =/
btw, I think that's the sexiest color for the 350Z, but so rare. When I repaint my Z (someday) I'm debating between Aztec Red (which it is) and Red Line. Thanks for reminding me of the other events for the next weekend. I'll have to check those out and see what I can make (there are lots of other meets coming up as well, one at Nissan of Charleston, *another* drag event out at Byron Dragway, some others as well).

Looking like 82º-88º (depending on who you listen to), windy, and partly cloudy. Nice day for a meet if you ask me.

Spent 7 hours today fully detailing my car (got its spring cleaning in... wash>clay bar>wash again>rubbing compound where needed>polish>wax>interior>wax wheels etc). Ask if you have any detailing questions as well, since I detailed cars for 2 years before working at Ultimate Z =P

for anyone just hearing about this...
3:00pm at the Southernmost Lot of Moraine Valley Community College (10900 S 88th Ave, lot off 111th St). Meet then cruise.

I'll be there around 2:30 or so, just look for the really sexy red Z32 (or the reflection of your car in the Aztec Red paint).

I think it was on Lake Street around 7:00... might have been Irving Park though. Either way, you were driving East and I was driving West. I knew it must be you because I got to see your Z last week when I picked mine up at UltimateZ with a new front bumper.

When you mentioned the meet at Nissan of Charleston, are you referring to the Z club car show at Nissan of St Charles in June?

yeah, lol St. Charles (that's what I get for posting past midnight).

When you saw me, I was likely on my way to pick up my new JSpec Taillights and side markers (a friend of mine is selling his Z and sold those to me, so after work I drove over there). I remember seeing you now.

lol, excuses excuses....

I also said in the e-mails that I'd still have the meet if it rained (~15 people said they'd come no matter what)! Not only that but I also sent out the e-mail saying it was going to be 82-88º Windy with no rain during the day!

There's always next time though, I'm working on it already!
