Organizing New England Fall Drive.....

Organizing New England Fall Drive.....
Prior to being a Z owner, I was an Audi owner and was the event co-ordinator for the Northeast Audi Owner's Club. We held some decent sized events, highlighted by the annual Summer Aftermarket Expo which brought tuners in from all over the country for a weekend of Automotive madness and fun. While there are enough big Z shows around the country, I would like to take advantage of early fall in New England with it's colors and cooler driving weather to put together a day/weekend of Z fun.
I am planning the event for the weekend of Sept 25/26. This is late enough for some color in the mountains, and early enough so we don't risk real slow driving leaf-peepers, cold and snow. (Yes, I've had snow on a driving event in early October). The starting location would be in West Springfield, MA. This is a central location from Boston to New York, and is in the foothills of the Berkshires of Massachusetts and not too far from the mountains of Southern Vermont. I would like input on what people would think is best.
1. One day event or two day. A one day event would entail a meet hosted by a Nissan dealership and a drive.
Now....if we did an early morning drive, we could really have some fun on some incredible back country roads. However, this would mean people would need to come out Friday night or REALLY early Saturday morning from their home location in order to start the drive at around 7am when the roads are certain to be empty.
If we did an afternoon drive, it would be more of a "casual" drive since there would be some traffic although these back roads never really get too congested.
A two day event would entail a meet from morning til early afternoon, drive into Vermont, overnight stay in Vermont, then some cruising through the mountains of Vermont on Sunday morning. People could leave from there, or we would meet back at a restaurant for food/drinks.
Please give opinions on what you think would be best. I'll get this whole thing finalized by the early-mid August depending on the feedback I get. Thanks.

I think its a great idea. One last meet before the Z goes into hibernation.
As far as a 1 day or 2 day, it seems like it would be a 2 day no matter what. If we go for the 1 dya them people would have to stay somewhere friday night like you said. Especially people from NY and NJ.
I am down for the one day since I live in CT and isn't a far drive, but that may be selfish of me.

Yes......I have contacted Jerry Rome Nissan in West Springfield, MA to host the show. They have hosted Z events in the past and seemed enthusiastic about the idea. Once the venue is set, more details will follow. Current opinion is that a one day show is the way to go. Looks lik an early morning drive, followed by themeet/show/party at the dealership. When I ran these show with Audi, the dealerships would often use the event as a promotional event for sales, and lure many people into the showroom.
The dealership itself is 2.5 hours North of NYC, 1.5 hours West of Boston, 0.5 hours North of Hartford, and well within range of some KILLER country driving roads.

Event not happening
I haven't been able to pull this thing together, and the delaership that was initally so enthusiastic to host it, hasn't gotten their act together either. So, unless someone else wants to organize, this event is offically DEAD! Sorry.
