I'm the DB Z that was there. It was a blast, 5 runs and I learned alot, like how important it is to go slow when necessary! Are you guys going to be at Ripken Stadium for the next one on the 16th (not this weekend, but the next)? Cheers, Rich

jvanquish, It doesn't matter how slow you are...just as long as you are having fun. I've found autocrossing to be one of the few places to really learn how to drive well without the threat of a ticket. I'm pretty slow too, but the more I go and watch, and have some of the instructors ride with me, the better I am getting. Hope to see you next weekend at Ripken! Cheers, Rich

Yeah, its at Cal Ripken Stadium on the 16th. I shall be there.

And who cares how fast or slow you are. Those guys that are really good, that are really serious, they've been doing it for years and years, some for decades. Go out there, have fun, and use the car for what its built for.

So anyone can go out on the track? How much does it cost? Are there other cars out there at the same time that may accidently hit me or that I may hit?

bmxox, No, its low threat. Basically a course of cones set up in a parking lot. Pretty much you'll shift from first to second and stay there the rest of the course. Max speed typically isn't more than 40 or 50 mph and then only for a second or two before you have to slow down to turn. Autocross is specifically set up so that its pretty much just you against the clock. They often start another car on the course before you are done, but only after the first car is safely down the course and out of the second cars way. I believe its $35 for non SCCA members and $25 for SCCA members. All the folks are extremely helpful. You'll learn alot about driving and alot about your car. See this SCCA link:

http://www.scca.org/Solo/Solo.asp?IdS=022AEF-F0F4270&x=050|010&~=

Hope to see you there! Cheers, Rich

Well, a total of four Z's showed up. Two DB's (one procharged who didn't run), myself (PPW), and one CS. Took 2nd in my class behind the silver Z (he was running race rubber) and in front of the other Z, a G35c, and a RX-8. It was a long day, but a lot of fun.

Rich besically described it in a nutshell. There is another one down in MD on the 30th and there is also events on the 22nd and the 29th at Englishtown. I should be at the one on the 29th.

Scott, I think they messed up the results, the Philly region website shows my friend in the blue RX-8 in second place, same as they announced after his last run, yet they gave it to you. Or did they mess up on the results? Either was it was fun! It'd be nice to see as many Zs as Lotus Elises!!!!! I'll have to get a kitchen pass from the wife to see if I can make it for the 30th. There is a Lancaster group autocross at Hershey Park next Sunday (23 Oct). I hear its a very big lot. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to join the Philly region or the Lancaster region when I re-up my SCCA membership this winter. I wish the supercharged Z would have run, that would have been enjoyable! Cheers, Rich

Something happened that he was not registered properly or something. His name/number was not on record. I saw that too. I dunno what happened to be honest.

I won't be there for the one on the 30th, but I will be at the one in E-town on the 29th and I'm going to try and take the 6th off for the last one they are having at the airport.
