I was wondering if anyone attends any of the events at island dragway in New Jersey because I would love to see some more 350's, 300's and G's come through there. It is a fairly old 1/4 strip nothing like Raceway Park. Mostly nasty a$$ camaro's running like 10's and 11's are there.

 

We went there once..WAAAAY to far and i nthe middle of nowhere NJ..

Off of RT 80N in Hacketstown, literally in some dudes back yard..

 

Island Dragway is a POS.. i don't care how many runs you get. the track is a POS.. the whole setup is a POS..

 

Island is an ok track if you just wanna have fun. But the prep is poor compared to E-town or Atco. My buddies and I joke about the "Atco free mod - 2 tenths in the 1/4" compared to island.
That being said, we go there on friday nights sometimes. We actually went today... my buddy Corey ran a 11.05 @ 125 in his Cobra (pretty awesome for IRS, stock-non-ported blower, and stock gears). We also had our friend Ryan's 5.4L turbo Mustang out for shakedown runs, and our other friend Costas had his PTE67 supra out, trapped 133mph. (Check the link in my sig for the vids/info on the cars).

I would be really afraid to crash at a place like Island view...dont know how long it would take to rescue you and get you to a hospital if you were really hurt..

According to that guy.. Island is much better prepped than Etown

 

Ha - I doubt it.

I'd say as far a prep goes... in the PA/NJ areas...

1-Maple Grove
2-E-town
3-Atco
4-Island
5-Beaver springs (and thats very close to Island's prep)

I've raced at all these tracks often... It's only my opinion but, thats how my experiences have been.
