Drug suspect killed, another injured after Newark chase ends in crash

(01/16/07) NEWARK - A drug suspect was killed and another was critically injured after a police chase in Newark ended in a crash Tuesday.

Authorities say the two suspects fled in a Nissan 350Z after officers observed them in what appeared to be a drug transaction at the Bradley Court Housing Complex. The crash occurred at the intersection of Tremont Avenue and Cedar Street. According to police, the suspects’ vehicle was speeding down Tremont Avenue when it crashed into an Essex County transportation van and then smacked into a building.

The passenger in the Nissan, Michael Castellano, of Belleville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as Michael Carlucci, of Belleville, was taken to University Hospital in Newark for treatment. He is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the county van was also taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was in the van at the time of the crash.

Wow, and then last month a guy in a silver 350Z in Dover hit and killed an elderly woman when they were street racing...we're getting a bad name...

 

hey absolute speed, the SATURN hit the old lady, not the Z. it wasn't even known if the Z was racing, never found to be questioned.

and this is sad. for the car, not for the passengers. drug dealers = scum. unless it's pot...

 

Oh i didnt know that, i just saw something on the news and it said the Z cause the accident so i thought the Z hit the old woman.

 

see?****ing media. noone even knows what happened. I think the saturn driver was just trying to parlay some of the blame to someone else.

the Z was not even involved in the accident.
