Moving to NY!! HELP!
So, I currently live in Gainesville, Fl and have been here for way too long. I had a couple choices where to work, Miami (Been there, done that) New York (either working in Brooklyn or Manhattan) and finally a couple options in Cali. So after all the dust settled, I decided to move and I'll be working in Manhattan! I won't be bringing the Z (unfortunately , i recently just paid it off and will stay with my dad in Miami or possibly sell) Soooo looks like i'll be moving either 8/12 or 8/19 and need some advice.
Any advice you can offer, locations to live or places to go out would be great!
Williams Brooklyn? I hear a lot about that area...this is a totally blind move. Figured I'm young enough (about to turn 29, which feels old as hell) and my g/f is 100% into living in New York so we said f*ck it and go.

Yea that's what I've heard too, it's totally hipster headquarters lol. But that's really the only place people have talked about, so it seems pretty nice. I have no idea where else too look, so any other suggestions??
I haven't decided what to do w/ the Z yet, it's staying in Miami until I figure out where i'm living and if I can bring it up. My z is a spoiled florida z lol

I think it matters your budget and you want when it comes to living arrangements. You should look into Westchester. I live in New Rochelle and its a simple 35 minute train ride to Manhatten.
Good luck!

You'll have fun in williamsburg, tons of stuff to do even if your not into hipster ish lol, its not a "pretty" area though housewise. I work in the area all the time and its a hop and skip to Manhattan. If you move to long island you'll kill yourself with the commute.

What about NJ? You can live in Hoboken or JC. Both are very trendy and a 10 min train ride to NYC. They have plenty of public parking decks in case your apartment doesn't come with parking. This way you can keep your Z. You will not pay NYC living prices but it will be close. If you move to Williamsburg and you like steak then make sure you go to Peter Lugers. If you move somewhere else you should still go to Peter Lugers Friggin place rocks.
Welcome to NY.

Haha I did Miami for a few years, and I had the choice of going back but I had to try NYC. Miami is amazing but I don't think it's the same type of "big city" as NYC.
I will def check Westchester & New Rochelle. I also have a friend that has a friend in FlatBush?
I had a friend that lived in Hobokin for a while and loved it actually.
So many choices, I'll be up there 8/19...anyone need a roommate?! lol
Also, Peter Lugers will be one of the 1st things on my list. lol I need good places to eat

The roads would be horrible for the Z up there-from what i remembered. And traffic round times sq--forget about it. Its a very nice place but the cost of living sure is different from here. I sure didn't like going through Harlem at all. GL wherever u decide.

The roads up here do suck. NYC and surrounding areas is not made for cars like these. Thats why most people around here with body kits have cracked lips and bent rims and such. I had a civic when i was young and i had a Tein SS suspension on it. As I was going to a Mets game at Shea i hit a pot hole that dessimated the entire front driver side. Had to replace the rim, fork, and entire coilover. And the Mets freaking lost the game too.
But away from NYC the roads are not bad. I am from Jersey and drive most places and upstate NY just find. I just never take the Z to the city and never will.
