AutoX Practice Day - July 16th
I'm still without a 3rd gear syncro, so I'm not going. I'm still hoping they'll get the parts in by Monday, but we'll see. If I don't get the tranny fixed next week, I won't be going on the drive next weekend either...
Ya know, you really only need 2nd gear for the AutoX....
Sorry to hear about 3rd gear...seems to be a pretty common problem.
If no one if going to carpool up, I'll just head up and see everyone up there around 9:30 or so.
See ya all tomorrow!

I see you haven't been to Packwood or Bremetron yet for an autoX. There are 3rd gear courses for Evt. Drove one at one practice day, lots of speed, it felt kinda illegal doing that in a parking lot. However since not everyone coming out to practice is capable of handling a proper downshift coming out of 3rd heading into a corner, it's best not to try and find out who can't. Hence we stay in 2nd on most practice days. If there is ever a practice day in the future where there are absolutley no 1st timers, and everyone is up for it, I'll pull out one of the 3rd gear courses.
heh. that sounds like a blast. Speaking of which, I guess I should pick up my tires. I still haven't cuz we're making an offer on a house tomorrow. We'll see if that gets accepted before I decide to spend too much more. The JWT flywheel/clutch took my Hoosier money.
Who would've thought you could acutally have a decent autoX course set up on 1/3 of the usual lot that we run in w/o it becoming a gymkhana course.
MadMax76; Impressive. The Force is strong with you.
Next event one should be on the 6th of Aug, TBD. We should have the whole lot for that one. We'll run something wide-opened to balance out things for this last one.

Thanks drivesolo,
I actually didn't expect it would be that easy to get used to driving this car. I still wonder what kind of time I could've turned in if I had different setup in terms of tires, shockes etc. It was still great fun though. The Z is really easy to drive and it's very predictable in terms of its limits at least on the stock tires. There was one time when I pushed it too far over the limit and I was able to corrected pretty fast. At higher speeds it might prove to be a lot more difficult to correct so we'll see what's going to happen during the next practice.

Oh man, you couldn't have described it better MadMax76. When I drove Daniel's Civic it made me appreciate the Z all the more. I'm going to try and drive other cars during practice days to see if I can pick up on the strengths and weaknesses of the Z better. I take a lot of what it gives the driver for granted.
Oh yeah, results are posted. See the BEAC site.

lol... If you're talking about Scott's and Justin's Integras, I don't think you need to worry about it. Both of their cars are pretty heavily modified and I think Justin was running on R-coumpund. Besides, that course we ran favored FWD cars.
Just to let you know, aside from my Koni shocks, and those old hard Tech R's I run at practice days practice days, I'm running completely stock. The 350Z is no slouch on an autoX course. You won't be disappointed at the next one, you'll be a superstar if you show up w/ a 350Z.

. Yea, man, I can't wait to do it again. It's fun on its own but when you get good results it's even better.
