I have had similar experience here in North Caroline, I drive a new 2005 G35 and was coming off a ramp at about 2:00am in the morning going to my work (odd hours)
I was passing an area where I know cops hang out all the time so naturally I was not driving crazy in any way, plus I was going over some really torn up road, needless to say I was prob. going about 40(speed limit 45)
well my turn is only a mile or so from the offramp, what do I see when I turn right but a cruiser in my rear view, I was too worried because I was not doing anything wrong.
as soon as I thought this I made my second right, less than 1/4 mile from the first (maybee he thought I was trying to get away from him) to my surprise his lights came on. so I pulled into a buisness parking lot and see that not one but two patrol cars have pulled up behind me.
now I middle age, 37 and very responable adult, so I just turn my music off lights on window down and great the officer with a smile and was hit with the very same question "do you know how fast you were going" well I was pretty sure it was 35
he tells me he clocked me doing 55 in a 45. My jaw drops I must have looked like he hit me with a bat. I know this is the last thing to say to a cop but I was in shock and told him that I really didn't think I was going 55. he pretty much gives me the usuall bullsh$t and takes my drivers licence back to write me the tkt.

I really believe he pulled this number out of his a$$ but I just decided to play the game and go to court and plea with the DA to ge tit reduced.

I believe more and more that we are going towards a poice state mentality where peacfull, tax paying, law abiding citizens, who have not done anything wrong (I don't consider excedding the speed limit to be a real offense unless it is coupled with reckless driving) are afraid to drive down their streets for fear of getting hit by the man.

sorry for the rant

Tony

From what I have heard, you can fight it by taking issue with the service maintenance record of the speed gun. If the KPD cannot show that they have regularly serviced the radar gun then the ticket can be thrown out.

Also, I live in Kent and often commute home on 212th. Here are the areas that I have seen police hiding giving out speeding tickets.

- Highway 167, right at the bend between the 277th and 516 Kent / Des Moines exits. I've seen them there recently in the weekday evenings.

- Highway 167 Northbound just North of the 84th street exit in Kent, particularly on weekend afternoons.

- On 277th at the foot of the hill going up to the Kent East Hill. A motorcycle cop hides behind the median.

- All over Kent Kangley (highway 516), but mostly there I have seen them on Kent-Kangley in downtown Kent just before Central Avenue.

- I-5 Northbound just North of Southcenter. A WSP car hides in the U-turn area just before the Tuckwilla S Curve bend on I-5.

Those are the places that I see the most police hiding.

What of waste of time. We have people breaking into and stealing our cars, breaking into our homes, and people like us who contribute to society by working in nice jobs and buying nice cars, are targeted like criminals.

Also, I have been pulled over for speading several times, but have been issues a speeding ticket maybe 2 times out of 8 pull overs. I am always very polite, and never argue with them about anything. Also, the main rule I follow is never admit to anything. Instead, act stupid. I pretend like I had no idea how fast I was going and that I simply got distracted by something. If you make a comment like "well I am late for work" or "I need to get home to do blah blah blah" then you are basically admitting that you were knowingly speeding. For some reason they seem to be more forgiving to people who are clueless, rather than people who are in a hurry or just driving a little fast on purpose.
