Default Autocross PIR June 10th

Saturday June 10th there will be another autocross event - this time on the infield at PIR. You guys should all make an effort to come out to this one. Jesse and I did the one today in Salem today and had an awesome time.

I'll post more details as they come availible, watch http://www.wmclub.org/calendar.shtml for more info.

It would stun people to see a group of 350's show up and steal the show. We got a fair amount of attention today just having the two there .

i think i will have to make this one too. the infield pir track is usually bigger than the salem (les schwab i'm guessing you went to) that track is so tight i could not bairily even make some of the turns in my vette when i went there. most the guys in the willamette club have small cars, so they make the tracks too tight.

sorry just checked, so you guys were at the fairgrounds. that is prolly better than the les schwab one. i had a guy beat my time in a stock jetta while i was in a 450hp vette on hoosiers at the les schwab, and i can drive pretty dam good!!! was impossible for me to not hit cones, way too tight.

Yeah, it was a bit tight in some places, but definately managable at the fairgrounds.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I've done some HPDE's out there but I've never autocrossed before. If I can make it, I'll see y'all out there.

Hey Kierin. Got the IS on the 10th. You guys aren't going to shun me because I don't have a G anymore, are you?

HPDE: High Performance Driver Education. There are a few local clubs (team continental, pro drive, bmw club, etc. you can find links to them on the PIR website) that have 'track days' where you can go out onto the full track at PIR with an instructor. It's a blast but a little on the spendy side as they run about $150 for the club/track fee, tire wear, brake wear, gas, etc. I can get about 5-6 track days on a set of good rubber (GS_D3's or PS2's) so each day is about $200 in rubber. You can go with all seasons with a much higher treadwear rating but they tend to get a little slick as they heat up and you'll lose a noticeable amount of grip.

You'll gain a new appreciation for your Z/G after a track day. They are built to run out there.

auto-crossing is super addicting, and way more challenging and fun than you could realize till you actually do it. it has always been said that good autocrossers make great road racers, but great road racers don't always make good auto-crossers.

Ah ok right, I think I knew that somewhere in the back of my head as I've done this before. OregonSCCA is doing one in july that I'm hoping to get on board for.

And hell no we won't shun you because of the IS! I can't wait to see it. I pointed one out to Lindsay the other day and she's now in love with them .

I hope to be in. I've never done a track day, or autocross before. Are there any requirements before heading out?

Just make sure to empty your car before heading out. Other than that, there's a safety inspection to make sure your wheels won't fall off while you're out.I

f you have a helmet that is at least snell 90 rated, then bring that, too. Otherwise you'll have to wear one of the nasty 'common' helmets.

This event by the way is 45 dollars, that gets you a 2 day pass for the Rose races for you and one other person as well as autocross access.

I would definately come up for a good event. I have a place to stay up there, so it wouldn't be an issue to pop up for a AX event.

Yes.

When people get there, be sure to park in an area that leaves plenty of room for the others Z's and let people know that you're saving spaces. Someone should bring some lawn chairs or some such to the event as well.

What time were you planning on being there? I don't get off work until 6 am, then I have a 3 hour drive, so I doubt I'll make it for the morning registration.
