Performance Driving School Sat. 3/3/07
NWARC Performance Driving School Saturday 3/3/07 @ Bremerton raceway.
If you've ever wanted to drive your car at the track but were afraid to because you did not have any track experience, then this is the school for you. If you have been to the track a few times and are still a bit puzzled about how to improve your driving skills, then this school is for you. If you have driven at tracks many times but find new courses difficult to learn, then this school is for you.
Details.
The morning will be spent on exercises that focus on specific aspects of driving and the afternoon will be spent using your newly learned skills on the track.
Bremerton Raceway is a 1.25 mile temporary roadcourse. It used to be an air feild so it's flat and has lots of runoff.
There is a long straight get up to at least 80mph before the chicane. after the chicane you get back up to about 45mph and take a left sweeper that unfolds into a tight 45-55mph slalom that gets wider untill the final turn back onto the straight. ( Its a cone course so it may be different.)
Bremerton Raceway provides a safe environment for you to learn the skills needed to participate in Performance Driving Events.
Objective
This school will focus on basic car handling techniques and the physics involved in your vehicles reactions. You will learn how to judge and execute the correct line through any corner and how to slow down to drive faster, plus much more.
Registration cost is $110.00.
This event is open to valid licensed drivers* who have attended our Driving School or have beginner/novice level experience in High Performance Driving.
*NOTE: Proof of valid drivers license is required for participation.
Instructors will be available to ride with you and coach you at each station.
Please make sure that your car is in proper condition. Remember although it will be inspected, you are still responsible for your car being safe.
Please do some homework before the event. Review these pages before coming to class. http://www.nwalfaclub.com/track/beginner.php

I copy/pasted this from another forum I frequent. I have some friends that want to go, as do I. Wanted to see if any of you Z/G guys wanted to go to this Alfa club event. Only $110 whereas trackdays are regularly $200+. Also, it's on a Saturday, where trackdays are usually on weekdays. Plus it's at Bremerton, which I hear is best for your first time. I need to buy some gloves though!
To register, I guess you call Kathleen Edwards. I haven't signed up yet, though.

I'm definitely interested...just gotta find out if I have the time to do this or not. Bremerton...as in, we need to take a ferry or drive the long way around?
The price is right for sure...and like you said, I gotta find some gloves.

Definitely interested. My buddy has called Kathleen and apparently she still hasn't gotten back to him. Not that a weather forecast 10+ days out is neccessarily accurate, but according to Accuweather, it's supposed to rain on the 3rd
. I just don't want to do a trackday in the rain (ever) and definitely not my 1st time out. Plus then I couldn't run the R-comps...I'd have to run the dubs

I'm down for whatever guys! I dug out my Shoei RF 800 today and found out it wasnt too old and I'm headed down to the PIR Gymkhana they are having on the 11th as well. might get lucky with the weather for the 23rd as well
I have an SCCA license now...so, yeah...back da f up.
My NSX needs a clutch, but I have it on order...my S6 is ready for some track runs...what the heck, probably wouldn't do too bad with the springs/sways I put on it.
If people are serious, I can probably make it work.

Although I need some instructions, they will be offering those I assume?
Thanks.
I sent Kathleen an e-mail last month about the May 23rd event. Still waiting to hear from her. This is pretty normal, she's pretty busy managing all the NWARC stuff. I'd suggest anyone looking to do the May 23rd date to e-mail Kathleen ASAP and continue to do so every month until May (then try calling).
Perhaps we can organize this as a NW Z/G event (off the records, ofcourse)? We'd all have to run in group C if we want to be on the track all at the same time. That'll be good though; definately safer than group B. Also, if we do this, I'd like to request that we consider no R-comps (sorry Triple8Sol, First350 & PDXracer
). Wha'd ya guys think?

Noah said it was best to call Kathleen, but apparently she isn't even responding to multiple vm's.
I don't neccessarily want to run R-comps. In fact, I'd rather not. Problem is, my only other setup right now would be these 20's. That would NOT be fun. I guess if someone out there had a set of 18" or 19" stockers or something I could borrow, that would work

What happened to the 18" stock 350z wheels you had?

Wow...thanks for the generous offers, guys! I was semi-joking, but hey we'll see... I got rid of those about a year ago, since I had no use for them. How do you still have a set of Z 18's? Since I have factory Brembos, those are prob the only set of the 3 that will clear.

So how did they collect money then? Day of the event?
May not matter though. I want to go so bad, but I think I'm gonna have to bow out of this one. All weather predictions point to rain. I don't want to do that my 1st time out. Plus it would mean the aforementioned rubber problems.

Yeah, I've always paid w/ a check at the morning of the event at registration.
I did my first HPDE in the rain and although it had it's share of difficulties, it was just as informative as doing it in the dry. Probably not as fun though. You should see if Proformance (the school at Pacific Raceways) will have a class anytime soon. That would definately be much more satisfying than doing it at Bremerton.

Same here. I'm actually glad I did my first event in the rain with Proformance. You'll learn A LOT in the rain! The next time you head out to another HPDE event in the dry, you'll feel like a GOD!
