Track Days
The Northwest Alfa Romeo Club has two Lap days setup for Pacific Raceways, May 4th and May 31st. Nissan have been welcome it the past. To find out more go to [url]www.alfaclub.org
I'll be taking my Alfa GTV and 350Z, weather permitting.

In the past, I have not obtained any special insurance and I do not if coverage is available. Check with your insurer since this is not racing nor a time event. The club has a pretty good safe record. It sure be interesting to see what these babies can do down that long straight away at SIR. Mel
I live about 3 minutes from the track, and would like to participate as well. But I'm with Jason and am a bit concerned about insurance complications for these sorts of things.
Jason, if you find anything out, post your finds...

I was at the IRDC racing school at Pacific Raceways a few weeks ago. We did about 6 track sessions where they let us race each other on the last 2 sessions (w/ instuctors in the passenger seat). When we were on the track, they only allowed passing on the front straight and only if signaled by the flag station.
It was very safe and controlled IMO. It minimized the risk of contact w/ another car or the possibility of getting into an accident as a result of another car's actions. It wasn't really racing, it was more for the fun rather than for the competative aspect of motorsports.
Would this be the same type of racing that they plan on having? I can't image anything else more risky w/o specialized equipment and training.
When signing the paper work before the class, I recall reading something about the insurance that esentially required your club's insurance to cover it which ment for the most part any damage to your car is not covered. I'll see if I can dig up the paper work if it's around and share what's on it if anyone is interested.
The rule that they emphasized during the classroom session of the class was "If you're not willing to walk away from it, don't take it to the track." That really made me nervous since I only had my car for 2 months prior to the class.

Hassan and I are also thinking of taking the one day course on May 6th. I've heard nothing but good things about the class.
It would be cool to see other Z's out that day.

I would highly recommend this to all Z owners. The car really comes alive on the track.
