Default front license plates...

I did a few searches on 'plate or no plate' debate. Looks like whether ppl get ticketed or not depends on which side of the bed the cop wakes up on. Some ppl got away with it for 20yrs, some got nailed 2 wks after they bought it.

Do you guys know if cops in King County are proactive about this kind of stuff? Alvin and Drivesolo, I know you guys got nailed before...

I dont think I can do the Z-bracket cuz I heard the 06 thread pitch (tow hook) is different than other model years. Plus I dont think its worth $40. I might just zip-tie it using my oem bracket... but still looks ugly with a plate sitting inside the airdam... also, putting the plate on the dashboard is too rice right? maybe I'll pay for the no-plate-tax like Drivesolo....

take it off, and pay the ticket when it comes. Heck, it might even save you from a speeding ticket if the cop decided to give you a front plate fixit ticket instead. FWIW, I've gotten pulled over ~6-7 times for no front plate on my last car and just sucked it up and paid. The first time you can put it back on and get it dismissed, but after that, you just have to pay the fine

Had mine since April, and I live up in Kenmore. I've driven past plenty of cops now without a second glance, so I really do think it's all about what side of the bed they get up on. Probably have a smaller chance of getting pulled over for the plate than you do with a tail light out.

fine is always $101.

i've been getting away with no plate so far, had my z for about 6 months now.

i also think if ur car is modded, u have more chance of getting a ticket cause ur car is more noticable. and some a**hole cops will pull u over and give u a ticket for everthing they can think of just cause u happen to like ur car and like to spoil it a little. then after giving u a ticket, the will smile and say "have a nice day, drive safe" like they just did u a favor so something

I got pulled over last yr on the freeway by a state patrol guy for no front license plate...wasn't even speeding - IMO he just wanted to make sure I hadn't stolen the car or had some other reason. I told him that I never got a front license plate, he gave me a warning and said next time that I have to re-new registration to ask for a front plate...

other than that, I've had no problems.

Why give a cop a reason to pull you over? Put the front plate on.

Here's how I look at it:
Say you go to a bar and have a couple of beers; not even enough to get a buzz. You're on your way home and get pulled over for no front plate. Cop smells beer on your breath, asks you to step out and take a field sobriety test (btw: once you're out of the car you're going to jail), in his opinion you fail the test and he takes you to jail where you blow a .03BAC and are convicted of DUII. All because you didn't have your front plate.

yeah...but with all the mods on my car, if a cop wants to pull me over, he will . And since I make it a point not to speed or do anything illegal, and since I don't really drink, I'm not too worried about it .

I live in Sammamish-Redmond and commute to Issaquah/Bellevue on a daily basis. A place full of terrible, angry, arrogant, power-tripping cops.

I've NEVER been pulled over for having no front plate.

I've had my G35 coupe since Feb 2004 and had never had a front plate. I got pulled over once a few years ago for no reason other than not having a front plate. This was in Auburn. Luckily he just gave me a warning and not an actual ticket. I haven't had any problems since and I commute from Newcastle to Redmond every day. I think I was pulled over then as there weren't many G35 coupes around. Now I see them everywhere and I guess I blend in more.

I've been pulled over twice for no plates. Once by the fine blues in Kent, another in Bellevue. The Bellevue was first and yielded a warning. The kent guy hit me with the fine. I just gave up and got the z bracket.

You've passed a field sobriety test and the cop let you drive off?

Never had a license plate on my Z for 4.5 years and got two tickets. If state patrol gives you a ticket, it's a fix-it. If local law enforcement; you pay unless you want to argue it in court.

When I got my last ticket last summer I felt pressured to put a plate on but I was still adamant about not having a front plate, I came up w/ a somewhat wacky design of a retracting license plate (conceptual only) just to maintain the look of no front plate, but more importantly, to mess w/ the next cop that pulls me over for no front license plate.

I don't think that anyone that has a Corvette w/o a front plate ever gets pulled over. I believe law enforcement execrises some like 'vehicle profiling' and is more inclinded to pull over some cars than others.

I've noticed that at night or under low light conditions it is very difficult to tell if a car does not have a front license plate since the headlights obsuce the details of the front of a car. Of friends that I know that have been tagged w/ a no front license plate ticket, it has always been in broad daylight during the warmer months of the year.
