Default Seattle Area Tires...?

I gotta get some new every day rubber for the Z. I'm going to put Blizzaks on the stock 17's once I buy new wheels, but what should I go with that will give me good wet and dry traction so I only have to put the Blizzaks on in BAD weather? Ideas? Thanks!!!

I have the BFG KDW2's and really like them. I get great wet traction (drive my car in the train all the time) and amazing dry traction.

I know Drew and Alvin likes Toyo T1R's. I've driven cars on them before and I do not like their dry performance as much.

KDW2's are one of my top choices. I have also been looking at Falkens, and PZero Neros.....I like the looks of the KDW2's tho.

^ How much different are they from the RE050A that come OEM on the '06 & '07? The Tirerack has them classified in the same performance catergory.

If you're looking for serious grip in the dry and good grip in the wet, the new RE01R's are really making a good impression.

think about Falken 615's??? They're the best dry autoX tire out there...and from what I'm hearing, they also do well in the wet.

I've just heard that the pole positions are better...thats all I know. I don't like the stock Potenzas though, they aren't impressive. I'll look into the RE01R's though.

I do love the T1Rs...and actually one of the reasons why I sold my SF Challenges was because I didn't like the BFGoodrich's G-Force KW2s...I couldn't get enough wet grip and I didn't feel comfortable with them.

On the other hand, during the Roslyn cruise I had T1Rs and drove in semi-wet (jsut rained on) freeway taking curves at 110-120 with the guys and it was fine. Going back from the cruise it was pouring like crazy and we got p to 90 without problems...that's why I love the T1Rs

Yessssssss...... RT-615's FTW! I have a set for both my Z and my S14. For autoX they are top notch, and suprisingly good in the rain too (although I don't know how they'd be like at minimal tread depth). There is one thing to be noted, they are a little noisy. They have a super stiff sidewall that must transfer road noise well. Also, from other people I've heard that driving in snow is suicidal w/ these. But for what it gives you in dry weather grip and handling, especially if you do autoX or track, it's well worth it IMO.

First350.... you and I spend WAAAY too much time on this forum. They're gonna find out sonner or later and we're gonna get fired. Oh well... that mean more time for driving, right?

I've had Bridgestone RE92, RE050 (reg & runflat), S-03, BFG KDW, KDW2, Nitto 555, Toyo T1-S, T1R, Avon M550, Dunlop SP9000.

Best in wet (in order):
SP9000
T1R

Best in dry (in order):
KDW2
S-03

Hmm, I guess I'm looking between the KDW2's and the T1-R's, I think the 615's wouldn't give me enough treadlife for everyday use.

I'm currently using the KDW2's on my street rims...I like the overall grip in both dry and wet - I've talked with triple8sol about the tires, and we have opposite opinions in how they do in the rain. Plus, they've done really well with wear - I've had mine for over a year now, and I'm still over 50% tread life, which is much longer than I expected them to last.

yup, i might get fired too.....

i had rt615s all summer and i love it... super sticky... good in rain on I-5 from Seattle-to-Vancouver... and the wear is not really that bad... i bought them in June and i still have at least 75-85% tread left... it really depends on the driver... (i'm not that aggressive of a driver)... the only bad thing is, they're a bit loud... louder than RE040s... the first day i took my rt615s out for a drive, i thought i was running Hoosiers cuz they were picking up all sorts of rocks and pebbles b/c of their tackiness...

I have the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position, though not much to compare them with... so I guess I'm not that much help. (=

Couple employees at a couple diff Discount stores have recommended the 960's to me. Supposedly a great all-season performance tire. Not sure how much of that is just a sales pitch to push that specific tire...

Good deal, are those what are currently on your Works? Remember, I want those wheels if you are selling them!!!

yeah - I have those mounted on the works...If you end up wanting those tires and my rims, it'll be perfect for you. And since my tires have 50% tread left, it'll give you about a year to see if you like them without having to buy the tires new.

*I'm picking up another set of wheels tonight from Dkorr, so the works will be available anytime!

I'll see if I can come up with the money now...I strongly doubt I will be able to, but I'll try...
