Default Nismo 350Z

Burien Nissan has 2 Nismo 350z's on their floor. A red one and a black one. They look pretty cool in person...in case anyone is looking for one!

I think they were around $38k??

Thats a good/fair price for them. Definitely worth the $ if someone is looking to buy a new Z. I wouldn't trade mine in for one but I do think Nissan did a better job on the Nismo Z than Honda did with the s2kCR

i still think the nismo is hidious, especially that rear bumper

and i wouldn't say nissan did a better job at the nismo than honda did for the CR, as far as looks go, they both look ricey, and if i was buying a car for shear fun factor, i'd buy the CR

I agree. I absolutely hate the Nismo Z's looks. The S2KCR I could live with everything but the rear spoiler. I think the S2KCR would be a better track car than the Nismo Z.

The reason the Nismo is better because of its power and the fact that the chassis has received special treatment: welded by Autech - the s2kCR never had that done.

They're making 1500 for North America for 2007 and another 1500 in 2008.

When it first came out I have to say I wasn't a big fan of its looks, but after reading about how capable it is, I regret not toughing it out and waiting the 90-120 days for it. If beauty is skin deep.... well, the Nismo Z is looking pretty good to me.

I dunno, I was concerned about the looks at first. My Yellow S-Tune is much prettier, but the new one passed the most important test... The cute drive-through coffee girls love it.

But any place you can get MSRP for it is good. Karmart Nissan in Burlington wanted 50k for theirs and wouldn't budge. And I would've been a 3rd time repeat customer ('04 SB base, '05 UY Enthusiast w/ S-tune package)! You can find at least two at any given time on ebay for MSRP or below. So after a few calls, I ordered mine from Courtesy in Texas for UNDER MSRP.

They're readily available, so if you can't get a good price, just make some calls to other dealerships. Even though they're numbered, they're still making them. So that "limited edition" B.S. shouldn't be reflected in the price.

I would imagine a car like this would do very well in AutoX...since it's factory stock.

They look a lot better in person to me...

Assuming that the SEB class the Nismo Z competitively, but likely the Nismo will be buried in BSP -- against "unlimited boost" Evos and STis.

The problem is the seam welding -- allowed only in prepared classes (not even street prepared permits that).

In the December issue of Grassroots Motorsports there's an article on their testing of the Nismo 350Z in autocross. They took it out to the Central Florida Region SCCA where they were not only the fastest in B Stock, but was able to beat all of A Stock and BSP all without the use of R-comp rubber, just the OEM tires.

Here are the results from that test from an event that took place in September:
http://www.cfrsolo2.com/2007/2007_09...points_fin.htm

You can see that the fastest time in A Stock was a dirty run. But the 2 second difference could have been made up if the Z was on R-comps.

But the modification rules in the Street Prepared classes greatly favor factory boosted cars and Mac Strut suspension, so the Nismo Z will have some pretty stiff competition in BSP. Never the less, in it's stock form it is something that is VERY impressive.

One thing is that one event a classing does not make.

However, while they did beat BSP and AS, they also were slower (by seconds) behind ES, CS, DS, and GS. Shoot, even STS beat the Z.

However, it isn't about the drivers -- its about what is done to the car. Can you take a reasonable amount of $$$ and turn a Base into a Nismo? The parts are the relatively easy part -- the hard part is the seam welding. If the exact seam welding can be documented and doesn't require major disassembly, then I could potentially see it classed in stock, but the "fact" that it was able to beat supposedly faster classes on OEM tires pretty much means that the Nismo Z won't be in any stock class.

The red one looked ok at the SIAS, but pacfwu's silver one looked much better. I like it, and the price is very reasonable! Even if you don't like the body kit and wing, you can easily sell that and get something else (even stock non-Nismo). All the other improvements make it well worth it...

Nope, staying with my 2005 Track model for now. I just can't see getting rid of it, it's WAAAAAAY to much fun to drive fast.

However, if someone wanted to let me drive one, I'd sure not turn it down!
