I have a salvaged titled Z.....now from what I get from people is the cringed look when you tell them it's a salvage title. A salvaged title vehicle is not always bad.
The three bad salvage title vehicles are floods, fires and cars that have been damaged enough to alter the structural integrity like the chassis/unibody.
Now I have a Z that was in a wind damage incident the car was not in an accident nor did it have anything that altered the unibody just body panels but when I purchased it, it was fixed up already.
I picked it up 6000 cheaper then If I had bought a used one. I would have gone used but didn't see the point. The car drove fine and I haven't had a problem since. It's almost as if the Z was in a fender bender and the insurance company gave it a salvage title.
Other cars that are good buys are theft recoveries, sometimes they recieve extensive interior damage(don't touch unless you have the know how to do dash and interior work and usually the electrical wiring) and some other recieve little to no damage. I find it funny that an insurance agencies mark some of these vehicles as a salvage title when there's no damage done to them.
Now having a little knowledge in the market I wouldn't touch a flooded vehicle with a 10 foot pole.
If your really interested go and talk to the person. You can tell a lot by the vehicle if you go and drive one and make sure to check the undercarriage, open the hood, look at electrical connections and see for corrosion and the basic things.
I personally can't imagine getting a Z for 9k that wasn't in a serious wreck or something a long those lines and still needs some work done(which it does say). I did buy my Z 1-1/2 years ago and the Z's are getting cheaper.
Just don't get the vehicle and open yourselves a can of worms. Personally I would try and at least go take a look at the car, you never know what you can find sometimes.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I've just never heard of such anything.
Anyway, I've dealt with my share of salvaged cars and they just about always turn out to be a real PIA.
Wind damage sounded weird to me to. I had never heard such a thing but it was probably in storm not a hurricane or tornado but some strong winds and debris hit it and so on and the insurance company considered it a salvage.
One persons loss was my gain in this situation. I couldn't believe how nice the car was when i got it. It's actually nicer then my friends brother's Z which was a used car from nissan.
