Does anyone know where I can find a good deal on an Optima battery locally?

Allied Batteries (right by the I-405 & Hwy-167 interchange) in Renton use to sell a lot of Optima Blue tops for a good price. I think I saw the Blue tops being sold at Costco for ~$150. I think there are atleast 2 different types of 12V Blue tops, not sure which one Costco is carrying. If you find a good deal locally post it, I'm looking for some Blue tops too.

According to the Optima website, I need either the 8020-164 Red Top or the 8040-218 Yellow Top for my G. Is that not correct?

Didn't even know there was a blue top...what is that one good for? From what I remember, red is for cranking power and yellow is deep cycle.

Taken from Optimabatteries.com

Yellow = Deep Cycling and Cranking Power
Get more from your battery with an OPTIMA YellowTop. Even if your vehicle is made to take the abuse of off-roading or cranking out decibels, it’s the power under the hood that gets you going and keeps you going. The ability of an OPTIMA to provide a steady amount of current over a long period of time coupled with its extreme resistance to vibration provides performance vehicles with the long-lasting power they need in a spill-proof package.

Blue = Marine and RV Power
Installing an OPTIMA BlueTop in your boat or RV means more running time, faster recharge, and up to twice the life of a traditional battery, which leads to one thing – more time doing what you love. The tightly wound construction in an OPTIMA minimizes plate movement and subsequent damage caused by harsh conditions, extending battery life and taking away the need for RV hook-ups. Who knows, staying out on the water longer might actually increase your chances of catching that trophy fish.

Red = Automotive Starting Power
The six-pack design generates its own buzz. But OPTIMA SpiralCell Technology is the real hero. OPTIMA RedTop batteries are built to withstand the abuse trucks, SUV's and 4x4's experience on and off-road while delivering a higher level of power to the starter in the critical first 10 seconds of the vehicle starting cycle. The RedTop features the lowest internal resistance of any battery on the market, which is the key to their unparalleled high power delivery, increased cycle life and fast recharge capability.

Basically, if you plan on running a 1000+ watt stereo system when the car isn't running, get the yellow top. Otherwise, you can get a red top and save some cash. Even with the red top, you can leave your headlights on for a week and the battery still won't die.

I looked for many places for the optima battery, but most of them don't have the one that the negative post on the left in stock, so I end up bought the die hard at sears.

had a yellow top on the jeep for a couple of years. Certainly not worth the extra price. Went dead like any other battery i've had. (had a big sound system with a ton of lights).

I would stay away from braille batteries. There is a few threads in here about that company and how they have screwed members and moderators out of money... I like optima...i used to run 2 blue tops in my old lexus. Stage performance in Kirkland carries them, and the owner Tuan has some hook-ups for them as well. Costco does carry the blue tops as well. Also, the reason it says that you cant run the blue top in your car is because the blue top is designed for marine use, and the posts are in a different location. You should still be fine.

Thanks for all the info & suggestions. Will they drop right in, or will I need some type of install or mount kit?

My system is only 500w, although with a 1Farad cap my interior lights still dim when the gain is cranked up. Other than that, just a few electronics like gauges, fmu, and EDFC.

That is not good to hear. Can you give us the short story of what happened, or links to threads?
