Nice choice on LSD. As for the axles, I am not sure. haha. Honestly the stock VLSD on the Z sucks IMO, it only works when it wants to.

I have a base and put in Nismo LSD pro. You can take it to Diff specialist and they will put it in for you. I put it in with my brother and had a specialist checked on it. You pretty much replace oem gears with your lsd. It's pretty simple. I am very happy to get rid of fury of "One Tire Fire!". All the popping noise are annoying tho. Good luck..

Get a Quaiffe LSD, it's the only aftermarket one that's gear driven (zero noise/chatter) and drops directly into the base pumpkin.

you need to buy the different axles to fit the kaaz lsd, no way around it, some say it might work without buying it, but their wrong. If you get the Nismo lsd pro like i have and the poster above, it is just drop in, only way to get nismo though is used, currently discontinued. Quaife is good depending what you want it for, if your thinking of drifting get the kaaz, tomei, or nismo. Cheaper bet would be nismo.

i got the kaaz and it was $80 less than the nismo only payed 1050 for it, and with this http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ne&prodid=3438 (bottom of the page they make a kit for fitting it into the stock base pumkin) so alot cheaper than paying 2k for new axles in the rear! for future reference if any 1 else decides to do this

Ok. All LSD's are designed to fit in your stock pumpkin. In fact the stock pumpkin is no different than the one with the VLSD. The axels are the same. If you are going TT, you should upgrade the axels while the diff is out and the lsd being installed. You will save bunch of money. if you need anyone to do the job cheaper, let me know. Ray in woodinville will beat any shops' quote. Besides he's well known among the locals and he's meticulous!

everything cant be the same if lsd's wont go into the base with out viscous axles or the conversion kit z1 offers. and drift office is doing it for $80 so im not worried about cost

Axles (OEM speak "drive shafts") same between diff's.
Output "drive flanges" that insert in to the differentials are different between VLSD/LSD.
Driveline/drive shaft is called "propeller shaft"
Not to be confused words for these parts.
If not sure of the name of a part look in the blow-up drawings in the OEM shop manual or use parts sheet for oem parts suppliers on-line.
Bad confusion over part name = bad advice/misunderstandings/improper part purchases.

for the lsd to fit properly into the base pumkin you either need to replace the "axles with the viscous axles" or the conversion kit from z1, this is coming form drift office nissan dealer and multiple places i was reading from. and viscous axles from nissan are grand a pop so no ty : O

they are talking about the same thing just using different (incorrect) terminology

axles are the same between all models

the output shaft - which is what goes in between the axle and the pumpkin, differ between LSD and non LSD cars. Those, as well as the associated bearings, seals, ring gear bolts on other various pieces are what should be done when installing an LSD
