there's a common misconception that carbon fiber is ultra strong and that it makes for a nice safe lightweight replacement. sounds like he's already informed though.
I think your weight savings estimates are a little off. CF doors weigh around 20 lbs and the OEM weigh around 60 if i recall correctly. you could shave off 80lbs with cf doors, a significant amount none the less, just not the 200-300lbs paired with the hatch you are envisioning.

Sure, you might be right about the mark being alot closer to 200 than 300. My guestimate is just that! either way, what I would like to build is a car that suits my tastes and need for well, the need for speed, of course! lol.
