More bushing install help
Hey guys,
SPL front lower control arm bushings + compression rod bushing:
Anyone have these install, what were you charged? Anyone successfully install it themselves?
After searching exarmyguy said he was doing a DIY, how did this go?
tw8715 mentioned a shop up north. Are you able to remove the arms too or do ppl just bring you the arms and bushings to be pressed?
thanks for any responses.

I am in the market for the SPL compression rod bushings. I am pretty sure its not too difficult. You can get a press from harbor freight for less than $100.

I just did the compression arm bushing. It was really easy. If you know somebody that has a press I would really DIY. If not, then I would atleast take the parts off youself, then take it to a shop to have the bushings pressed out/new ones in. That will cut labor costs down. They'll probably charge about an hours worth of labor, even though it only takes about 10 min or so on the press. If the shop does everything... I would say 2-3 hours labor minimum.

Guessing how much a shop can or will charge is a moot point.......
If its a shop familiar with the Z and all things go well, ie (no rust, etc like what happened here) then an hour sounds like the ACTUAL time, but if a shop knows that rust and seizing can happen and factor in the possibility of that issue they can probably quote more hours since they "know" the job...
about the only thing you can do is stand around and time the job and argue actual time??
if a shop thats not Z related is asked to do it, one look at the nice SPL bushings and a 350z modded or not, they are probably gonna quote high.......
in the end, about the best you can do is drive around and obtain quotes....
If someone locally ask me to install them for them, I tell them they must come over and lend a hand when i need it and it usually takes me under an hour as i have all the right tools for the job! I charge $100 bucks........but if i have to deal with a seized Compression rod to the stud, then 100 bucks is moot and honestly not worth it as it becomes a real pain in the azz!!! I just have to roll with it and knock it out........Ive installed about 6 sets now......most being people that wouldn't have normally purchased them with out my influence......
your welcome spl......

Hey Jason, I'm trying to recall that event. Was that when the local 350Z guys raced against the S2K guys at Sykart in Tukwila?
I was there with a co-worker that was on company business with me.....was back in Sept 2007 if i remember right..
