Default what to do??!!

so today i got the last parts id been waiting for to put my z together and go get a cornerbalance and alignment which i had an appiontment for tomorrow, but when i took my car out to break in the new diff it locked up. i was 4.3 miles from my house when the rear suddenly started to whine then locked abruptly, like all with in a minute. i want to say that i took the pumpkin out and brought it to a reputable shop that many on here recommended, had a new diff and final drive installed and then put it back using the FSM to get everything tourqued to spec. with that said and being i didnt even make it to the place i chose to break it in what should i do? when i got the diff back the owner said the backlash was idk how tight exactly he said "as thick as a sheet of paper" and "if it was mine id leave it like that better too tight then too loose" so i left it like that based on his reccomendation, now i have a locked up rear end and i cant move my car. any help is appreciated.

sorry man - I think few people have the expertise to guide you appropriately here and you likely need to bring the diff or the car to an expert.

what a bummer.

out of respect im not going to name the shop but as far as i know most of the z's in the area get their diffs done through the shop that did mine, and they are big in the drift scene as well. every part i had was brand new nissan or cusco parts i dont think that this is a common problem when you have it professionally done... but idk mine broke doing 30mph in a staight line. would you bring it to the same shop to look at talk to somone else? what would you do? any help is appreciated thanks

^word. if its a reputable shop that you trust, give them a chance to make it right. you don't exactly have a lot of options for diff experts in the NW.

damn, that sucks hard... like everyone else said take it back to the shop that did it, see how they handle the situation. Thats why you pay a little more to have a professional place handle your business and not just some dude in his garage hope you're back on the road soon!

Sorry to hear.
That's why My brother(a mechanic) and I take our lsds to a shop specializes in diffs... If the shop can't resolve it, that would be my next stop. Bring it to guys who does diffs all day everyday for living.. Hope you get to drive her soon..
