Default DMV question

How do you change the Lienholder on your cert. of title. I see there is a spot on the back that says New Lienholder info. Do you just fill that out and send the title back to the DMV and do you fill out the part that says New Registered Owner? Or do you have to go down to the DMV. I'm confused. It says changes must be made in 10 days.. I'm running out of time! Help. Thanks~!

Get your lazy butt down to the DMV and ask!! J/K !!
Seriously, I think going to the DMV is the best bet. Probably will be faster too. They're pretty fast now with that numbering system.

NO!!!! Last time I went to the DMV I was there for 4 hours and that was just to get my personalized plates. The DMV in Santa Rosa is AWFUL.

Hmm.. maybe I can get to Petaluma in time.

Anytime I've had to change "ownership" I've always gone down to DMV and done it (make an appointment first). When I bought out the lease on the Z I had to get a Letter of Release from the leasor and submit that along with the DMV paperwork. You'll probably have to do the same. You can call them and ask too. Check out the Web site also.

Thanks Bill. I have the letter from my bank stating my account is closed and they mailed me the title. I guess I'll just go to P-Town.

I didn't make an appointment when I went for my plates. For some assinine reason I thought it wouldn't take that long. When my wallet got stolen I only waited for 20 minutes, guess I just lucked out that day. Thanks guys, I made an apt.
