Kind of off topic but that road race that is comming up in downtown San Jose sounds pretty damned interesting. Anyone know when that will be? I just don't want to be in Singapore when that takes place.

You're talking about that Champ Car World Series around the HP Pavilion Arena right?

I've seen races on Baily right in front of IBM. I get nervous though, I don't want to just be passing through in my Z during the races when the cops decide to bust it up. I don't need another ticket like that.

I take the Baily- McKean deal all the time when I go from my house to my buddies over in Almaden Valley, great little road. Faster than the freeway most days, Almaden / Blossom Hill is a goat parade.

If you stay on and keep making lefts you can head through New Almaden up and over and into Los Gatos, all on winding little roads.

Or Take Uvas down to the end and up and over Mt. Madonna into Watsonville and down to Laguna Seca.

I do like the Monterey to Blossom Hill to Cottle deal, it always makes me smile.

There is stuff all over the place down here, I love it

Exactly!! I grew up in Almaden and then spent 15 years in Morgan Hill. Being up here in Livermore now I really miss my roots. My 1st car was a 1973 240Z, it was my 1st ZNOMENA. That thing was clean and I loved it to death, until i killed it into a curb. But yah, so many memories in that Z. Kennedy road from Almaden to L.G. on my way to West Valley JC was insane early every morning. I can't believe the ***** I had back then.
Oh well, at least I have Tesla road out here in Livermore. Do you guys know that road? Absolutely insane in the hills!! I shouldn't have more power for my Z. I would kill myself. But more power I seek!!

ya...used to be mainly domestic drags over there on bailey in front of IBM. I don't know if the scene's gone now or what, but I know that the whole Milpitas, Fremont, san jose "street races" thing died out pretty quickly a few years ago when the big busts started happening.

I've been out on Tesla, not bad, not bad at all. The Z has all the power you need for most of the stuff around here as most of it is too tight to stretch it's legs anyway.

For Livermore you should take a trip over to Mogan Terretory Rd. That'll make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end.

Or Mines Rd. (back side of Mt. Hamilton) is good too.

If you want some one lane crazyness, check out Calaveras Rd. off of 84, I had a close call deer crossing on that one, ran between me and the car in front of me.

By the way, I was doing some research on Mt. Hamilton a while back and found out why it is so tight and twisty on the front side. It was built for horses who are pulling carts and wagons at super slow speeds. They could easily make hair pins without slowing down cause they were not going fast in the first place. I am glad, I love that road.

Anyone know what the hell they are doing with the 87N to 280 split? I used to enjoy the 2 lane fun going from 87N to 280N @ 80mph....now it merges from 2 lanes to 1

Just a random topic...

Caltrans is making drastic improvements to I-280 south. This includes fixing the bumps before you get onto 87S and fixing the drainage problems associated w/ improving the 280N and 280S to 87S merge lanes. If you've noticed, that section is a hell hole from 3-7pm, especially w/ the Alma exit a few feet down from the 280N & S on ramp.

You've got that right, I can see 87 just north of that interchange from my office window, if I am running late to leave, only the fact that I am driving my Z will keep be from depression.

Unfortunately they are adding carpool lanes, so now, all the carpoolers will feel it is their God given right to be in the carpool lane immediately after merging from 280 (like they do over on the 280S / 85S interchange) as if the merge was not bad enough half of them seem to think that slowing down is going to help, while carpool traffic moves by at 75. It is gonna back 87 all the way up to the airport.

Hey cool...someone w/ info on what's going on there!
I see, I see...yeah 280/87 definitely needs the work...

My main hope is that when they're all done, they give us 2 lanes back from 87S to 280S

I too liked the 87N to 280 spilt. Perfect turn for drifting. But now if you drift there you will end up in the wall eheheheh.

Never drifted before there ... but I can see the appeal. Kinda. Just not ready to do it in my baby yet.
