Default Visiting San Francisco, need advise

Whats up everybody, my name is Mike. I am traveling to San Francisco with my girlfriend for a little vacation the first weekend of March. I am staying at the Hotel Palomar. I want to know where some good bars are that are close to the hotel. I want something with a fun atmosphere, and no drama (a lot of bars here in Vegas have drama). My girlfriend and I are not really into the clubbing scene, but we do enjoy a good bar. I also would like to find out about some good restaraunts. I want to know of a good, semi-fancy restaraunt (something nice, but not $100 a plate), and also a good regular restaraunt. I want the first night to be nice and romantic , and the second to be fun and intoxicated . Thanks.

^^ only if you're going to the castro and plan to bend over with your pants down for an extended period of time

What kind of music do you like? I can recommend some clubs if you tell me..

Also, using city search will help you find resteraunts you might like because there are SO many awesome ones in the City If you want a really romantic place to eat I would suggest Fleur De Lys ($$$$) or Pasha ($$$) if you like french or mediteranian food.

Nothing wrong with Union Square. A little bit of everything there. Actually most people there are couples... heterosexual couples

If you're by Union Square, then The Cheesecake Factory is just for you. Good dining, reasonable prices, good-sized portions. One caveat, long waits at dinner time (and there are no reservations). Typical Saturday dinner waits (between 6pm and 10:00pm) usually average an hour and a half.

I consider it to be a semi-fancy restaurant, and it could easily be a romantic eatery. It's on the top floor of the Macy's building.

Oh, and if you're looking for a steakhouse, then there is Ruth Chris Steakhouse and House of Prime Rib on Van Ness (not too far away from you, but definitely NOT in walking distance). Both of those restaurants are pretty reknowned for their beef.

House of Prime Rib, Harris, and Ryth Chris are all good.

I'd recommend House of Prime Rib (definitely need reservations) because you can get a second helping...... Don't get me wrong, food is excellent there too!

I think I will try the House of Prime Rib. We have a couple of Cheesecake Factorys here in Vegas that we eat at all of the time, so we will probably steer clear of that. Thanks everybody for the quick advise.

Try this:

"The House" - its on Grand Ave. its a small restaurant that serves Pan-asian cuisine.

"Michael Mina's"- its inside the westin st. francis hotel.

"The Rotunda"- its on top of Neiman Marcus.

"Equinox"- it on top of hyatt regency. it spins, so you get a panoramic view of sf, bridges, bay, etc.

"One Market"- <- thats the address and the name.

"Boulevard"- its along the embarcadero. probably the best pan-asian food/French-ish.

"Aqua"- between Drum and California st. it serves french food. a little pricey tho.

"The Stinking Rose"- its on Columbus St./Grant st.. serves food w/ hella garlic on everything. so if you don't like garlic, don't go there. this is probably the cheapest of the restaurants listed.

"Tommy Toy's"- for fancy chinese food. its on mongomery st. right across the st. from the TransAmerica Bldg.

Thats all the good restaurants that i can think of that have not already been suggested. so good luck and have fun!!

Very pricey, but very romantic. Just spent Valentine's there...

whatever - We have a Morton's here in Vegas so I kind of wanted to try something that Vegas doesn't have. It is the best steak house I have been to though.

The Equinox sounds interesting too. How pricey is it, $75/person?
