Default Visit to San Fran

Hey all,
To those in the San Fran area can your recommend some things to do. Ie... bars, restaurants, sights, bars, bars...

I'll be here until the 9th so anything you can think of would be great. I'm staying in the Marriot near the Moscone center down town off Yerba Buena.

Thanks!
David

Cha Cha Cha, Foreign Cinema, Palamino, Luna Park, Stinking Rose are some good restaurants.

Things to do: Union Square, Metreon, North Beach (for bars), take in a Giant game at SBC.

Especially Broadway Street....

Since you're at the Marriott, go to the top floor, bar area called The View... very nice and really romantic. I've taken many o' girls there before more intimate nights...

And you're near the tourist mecca of SF... shopping like crazy within blocks of your location, and you can even try the SF exclusive Cable Car rides... go down Market far enough, and you'll see a very "colorful" part of SF...

Brian (has lived in SF and the surrounding Bay Area all his life, and still hasn't been on a cable car)

edit: I see you're from TX... I just had a friend up from Arlington, played host and tour guide for her all over SF. She liked it, as I'm sure you will too

And take the boat over to Alcatraz if you have a day to burn.

Is that an offer to take me around the city?? j/k. I have been here a few time before, but never really asked the "locals" what to do. I DO love this town though. Its a blast every time.

Anyone know anything about "Stinky's Peep Show"?

Edit: Here is a pic I took at Union Square today

Actually, given where you're staying, you should try the Thirsty Bear for dinner/bar, and there's the XYZ lounge inside the W Hotel that's pretty cool. Thirsty Bear is on Howard just east of 3rd; and the W Hotel is at the Northeastern corner of the same intersection.

Another good place to eat is Lulu's, on 4th and Folsom. The Metreon is, as you know, also close by. The Chieftain, off 5th and Howard, is a local Irish bar.

If you can get to the Sunset District (near UCSF), there's an interesting restaurant called Park Chow. In the same district, there's a bar called Yancy's that's pretty good.

And, btw, I work nearby.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to try and hit up North beach tonight and take a jog in Golden Gate Park tomorrow. I need to make a trip here when I don't have to work all day....

Justice League? I haven't been there for at least 5 years... not sure if it is still around?!? It's in a residential area and parking sucks.

There's a Giants game tonight. Hit up the bars across the street... Momo's, Paragon, 21st Amendment

If you are into wine and the upscale crowd. Check out Bacar on Brannan between 4th/5th. It's a little pricey but the food is good and they have one of the best selections of wine in the city. They also have live Jazz playing.

If you are looking for a good restaurant/steakhouse:
Houston's
Boulevard
Paragon
Bacar
House of Prime Rib
Morton's
Bob's Steak and Chops
Havana
Alfred's
Jack Falstaf

Wednesday night isn't usually a party night here...But maybe someone on this board knows of something going on???
