Worst. F1. Broadcast. Ever.

I expected better commentary from Sheheen and Daly. They didn't choose the camera shots, but the commentary itself was attrocious. Great race, though. I'm looking forward to the re-broadcast on Speed later this week.

Hated it. CBS is lame on picking up the F1 races.. it's not even LIVE! They messed up quite a bit while commenting as well...

At least US GP will be on SPEED channel!

I like shaheen doing wrc... but man o man it seems like he doesn't know anythign about f1. =\

It was like he was being handed queue cards and he would just read them word for word.

and yes.... thankfully, the usgp will be on speed.... and speed usually does a great job with that event.

I even emailed CBS after the first F1 race they carried this season and asked if they could please, please, get Varsha and David Hobbs from SPEED. Here's what they said:

"The governing body of Formula 1 has secured time on CBS to televise select races. The races were chosen by Formula 1 based on their preferences and the availability of time slots on CBS. The talent was also chosen in conjunction with F1 and will include veteran announcers from CBS Sports and Speed TV. For more information, you might want to contact Formula 1 directly.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We value input from all of our viewers and we will be sure to pass your thoughts along to the appropriate CBS Sports executive."

Sincerely,

CBS Sports
Audience Services

Side note: I'm heading to Indy for the USGP this weekend. First F1 after having watched races since I was 6. Can't WAIT

wow... i guess it makes sense that f1 would be after network coverage. it's just too bad that they couldn't get enough air time to even cover the post race interview....

ridiculous...

Have fun at indy... someday i'll go to a f1 gp... for now i guess i'll settle for cart and indy. (not that bad i guess)

+1

A whole lot of flapping about what they didn't know, and know past race interview.

He came into the pits while the safety car was out on the track, and by the time he was ready to exit the pits, the field was passing by the pit exit. As a result, there was a red light on at pit exit that he was supposed to stop and wait for (it would turn green when the field passed,) but he didn't wait...he just zoomed on out through the red to rejoin at the front of the field.

It was pretty s*itty in any case. I watched the race again last night on TIVO (yes, the commentary gets worse the second time around) and you can see him trying to hold up for the light to turn green. It never did so he just went.

Overall, pretty costly mistake. Mclaren Mercedes might've finished 1-2 or at least 2 in the top 3. They would've overtaken Renault in the Constructor's Championship after Alonso booted.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Anyone have predictions on USGP?

Kyle

just the local ones... San jose for cart and sears point is hosting IRL in august.... truthfully i haven't made any arrangements whatsoever, but i intend to be there if at all possible.

USGP? eh, i kind of feel like engines will be the deciding factor.... I'd still put alonso on top with kimi close if not ahead, and basically move up redbull and toyota. So that means ferrari, williams and BAR move down. BAR claim a new setup for indy but I don't buy it. Plus, unless I'm mistaken, Sato and Button will be on race number two with their engines. Does button get a free engine change? Not sure on that.

Of course minardi and jordan... i mean midland, don't even count.

AND...Red Bull is reported to have 30 more HP at Indy...On top of that, Scott Speed, the American driver who's been in F3000, is running as Red Bull's third driver on Friday. Pretty cool.

I think Jarno Trulli might have a good race. Montoya is due for one.

You know, now that you bring it up...I think that was one of the main things that pissed me off about CBS coverage of Imola. The description of the BAR cheating incident was terrible.

If you haven't yet, take a look at this site. Pretty good thumbnail look at the week-to-week developments.
