Unhappy Windshield Starting to Crack Now...

Well, I've had a few chips on my windshield for a while now & I just noticed today that one of them has now started a crack that's about 6 inches long . I was holding off on changing it until it got worse so I guess the time has come to change it. Anyone have any recommendations of where I can get this fixed? Also, what was that brand again that people are going with which is cheaper than buying the OEM glass? TIA

PPG...yep that was it. Thanks Michelle.

I'm trying to see if my insurance can cover this for me since it was due to rocks flying off trucks on the freeway .

most insurance companies have a windshield clause in their policy, because its a huge safety hazzard. All the companies I have had for the past 10 years have covered it for free.

Sorry I couldn't recommend a shop down there... my room mate's dad owns a glass shop, so I always get my stuff done in Santa Rosa (Van Koonse Glass)

PPG. Had mine installed at a place off Stevens Creek, I think it was called Safelite Glass or something like that (they're about 1/2 mile east of Valley Fair). It was about $335 out the door. Let me know if you want their number I can try to look it up.

If your insurance pays for it, go with OEM one.

I had my windshield cracked by a rock in the free way. At first it was small but then it started to spread fast within 2 days it was long. Called my insurance(AAA) and immediately got it replaced. They even came to my house to install it. Took only like an hour and a redbull. It was an OEM replacement and was not charged anything. The company that replaced it was safelite or something. Well known company and work was great.

I had to fight with my insurance to get the OEM one.... but did eventually get it.
the place I went to was Lotus Glass (yahoo yellow page it). The Korean lady that works there will help you fight for the OEM one!!
Safelite is the 3rd party glass insurance company that most insurance company outsource to. Safelite won't get you OEM glass.

Check out Lotus Glass (sp). They do really good work. I think they are located on Bayshore. Its right around the corner from Zcargarage. Everyone from work went there. They would also come out to our location and repair it.
