Oh you asked about the area...lol. Nice area. During the hot summers it's cooler up there since it's so close to the SF bay. That being said, you're really close to "the city" (sf), san mateo and redwood city. You shouldn't get bored with the bay too soon

yeah we were just trying to find out if it was a nice area... we dont want to end up in some ghetto area. we might only be there for about 6 months unless we decide we like the bay area, then we will stay longer. we are coming from phoenix AZ so i am worried that i am going to freeze my *** off there.. what are the temps like in the winter? what parts of the bay area offer the most to do?

also, what sites do you guys use to look up used cars. i am looking for a low mileage 04-05 z preferrably enthusiast... here in az we use autotrader, but that site shows very little in the bay area. is there another site?

This is a wonderful place to live (the bay area). But coming from Phoenix, be prepared to pay more for many things. Gas is more expensive, Housing and if you need to cross bridges, you will have to pay a toll fee. But if those things are not an impediment for you, you will have a blast in this area.

gas is pretty expensive here too... only about .08 more in san fran area. i have visited the area before (couple years ago) and remembered the tolls, but how much are they? its not a big deal for us, just curious. we dont have to worry about housing either because my wifes company pays for a fully furnished luxury apartment and all the utilities.
after 3 months in foster city we will have the oppurtunity to move if we want, and cupertino/mountain view are a couple of options. does anyone know about those areas?
and thanks very much for all the responces. we are going to be lost in a huge new city next week and the positive feedback made us feel better about it

What are you activities of interest? Most cities around here are pretty nice, so you shouldn't really be concerned about "ghetto" communities. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions. I work in San Mateo (Connecting city to Foster City).

lol. I've lived in Mountain View and Cupertino as well.
Mountain View is not a bad place to live. Another city with pretty much all your basic needs in a city. Plus they have Castro street which is like 3 blocks of different variety restaurants, bakeries, dessert places and bookstores.
Cupertino is nice. I work there now, but living there was nice too. It's a pretty rich city with a low crime rate and a lot of things around you (shopping, food, coffee, etc etc....). It's also pretty accessible to several of the local highways. Housing is pretty expensive in Cupertino as well though. The single family homes start at around 700 and go into the low 1 million range.

activities of interest would be shopping for my wife... and for me, race tracks, movie theatre, bars, sushi, and close proximity to performance shops is a plus.
also, do you guys do alot of meets? i am used to the car scene here, where we have meets all the time. whats it like up there. i couldnt find any local car sites when i searched for them.

Man you'll fit right in. There are many car enthusiasts, in the area. Performance shops are everywhere and popular especialized Z shops are in Fremont and San Jose. Theaters are located in different cities within a few miles. Shopping can be in San MAteo's Hillsdale Mall, Stanford Mall, oh and Premium Outlets are about 50 miles away from Foster City. We have Infineon Raceway only about 1 hr drive away and Laguna Seca in Monterey about 2 hr drive.
